Hi just dropping in to remind everyone that it is all worth it. I made my final payment today and it feels amazing. :) I will feel even better when I get the amended title deeds without the mortgage company on them - apparently it can take up to nine weeks to get that done, but from my part - I paid their fees to get deeds sorted, so I'm done. No more money spent towards mortgage at all. :)

It has been a long journey for me, starting from over ten years ago when I realised how much money I was wasting on interest payments, but now that I'm done with that part of life, I can start looking forward my next target (early retirement). :)

Keep up the good work and don't listen to nae-sayers. I have had colleagues slagging me off for not living in the moment, but I now have more freedom than what they do....and TBH didn't scrimp that much that my life was a misery either.

The smallest overpayments you can make, make them. Going back the records my smallest OP was 80p :D but it all adds up over the years, so make the OPs where you can.

Looking forward checking up your progress and posts! xxx

    That's amazing well done!!!!

I know exactly what you mean about colleagues who think your not enjoying yourself, when in actual fact I get lots of enjoyment from planning and making over payments as well as my holidays

It's so good to know others feel the same on here.

Good luck with your next goal :)

March OP of £600 for #11, making it £1,920 for the year so far.

Mini-milestone this month is that I'm now over £50k in OPs since I took out my mortgage in mid-2013 :) - this time five years ago I still had 18 years to run, as long as I can keep the same pace up i'll now be done inside three, or a touch over ten years early :D

March OP of £600 for us too (no. 38).

    Congratulations Penny Stretcher!

Great going Lomcevak too - we've cumulatively paid £11k off now but had to check that the spreadsheet wasn't lying - it's not like we've missed it. You'll be there in no time now!

Yeah, I don't miss it either - we set up a monthly standing order for £600 a few years ago and just let it run and it builds up to a decent lump over the year, and I chuck a bit more from time to time when I can.

In a couple of years we'll be down under £30k and I suspect we'll start to chuck every spare penny at it at that point, but until then i'll leave it ticking over in the background :)

Congratulations pennystretcher! :T It must be an amazing feeling.

Also a quick update on my February op / offset total, I managed a grand total of £756.79 bringing my total this year to £1313.85. I'm hoping to get close to that amount for March too - fingers crossed!
