I too have lots of recipes to share looking forward to it already
If its in the freezer thoiugh Sharon, unplug freezer last and plug in first at new place, we did this when we moved and evrything was fine. 3-4 hours of being unplugged.

Heres one of our family favourites i tend to doble up the amount and open freeze slices of the cake that way the teenager doesn't eat it all and i always have cake on hand for packed lunches last time i costed the recipe it was about 65p to make makes 8-10 slices

    Ingredients

    100g margarine
    75g caster sugar
    2 eggs
    175g self-raising flour
    1 jar lemon curd(smartprice/value is fine )
    1 level teaspoon baking powder

    Method

    1. Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade. Grease a 2lb loaf tin

    2. Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix together for about 5 minutes

    3. Pour the cake mixture into the prepared tin level the top.

    4. Bake for approximately 40 minutes until browned.

This cake gets moister the longer you leave it, if you can!!!

I have done a version using cocoa and marmalade as a chocolate orange cake too

This sounds lovely, think I will have to have a go at making it.

    Another family favourite :

    Flapjacks

    7oz margarine
    4 tbsp golden syrup
    10oz oats
    6 oz brown sugar

Melt the margarine syrup and sugar over a low heat until all melted and the sugar dissolved.(you could do this in the microwave but don’t leave it unattended)

Sir into the oats, press into a lightly greased baking tin about 12” x 8” about 1” deep firm down and bake for 20 minutes at gas 4 or equivalent(should just start to go brown around the edges). Cool for 10 minutes then mark into 15 pieces by scoring the surface with a knife. Allow to cool completely, then turn out and break along the score lines.

of cooking the same dinners week in, week out, and I blame you all LOL! since I found this thread, I've been impressing OH too much - he now expects something wonderful and exciting every night!!!

I need inspiration - we normally have stuff like

    Roast
    Chicken Curry
    Homemade Pizza
Shepherds Pie (and jcr's bean and mince pie)
    Steak Pie
    Chicken & Mushroom Pie
Chicken and mush in white wine sauce and rice
    Bolognese
    Lasagne
    Mexican chicken (fajitas)
    Stew and dumplings
    Pasta and tom sauce
    Jacket spuds and chilli
    Nigell'a mini meatloaves

has anybody got an hidden gems I can add to keep OH impressed and me inspired in the kitchen?

Welcome Sharron - loved the lemon cake recipe am going to make that on Weds.

Thank you for the chocolate frosting recipe (can't remember who posted), it's gorgeous, made a double batch of fairy cakes (found a fab new recipe) and made one bowl of milk choc frosting and one bowl of white choc frosting - they are delicious only problem is DD's friends keep asknig if I've got any cakes indoors on the way home from school

Oh and I've started making my own sausage rolls - they disappear quickly too and are so much nicer than shop bought ones. Our local baker makes a cranberry/sausage roll in December they are so scrummy, I am going to try adding some cranberry sauce to sausagemeat next time I make s.rolls. Will let you know how they come out...cranberry sauce that's just reminded me of a recipe for leftover xmas pie, I think it's mayo, cranberry sauce, leftover turkey, walnuts and cheese - will have to see if I can find the recipe...

..am starting to feel not so bored LOL!
