Have made a full size apple braid (ie 1 bread from the full recipe) for the office cancer research fundraiser.
had to freeze it cos I have been v busy this week and its tomorrow. question is how long will it take to defrost? shall I take it out tonight, or could I leave it till tomorrow (7am out the freezer for 9.30am office breakfast) to maximise the freshness. will the apple take longer to defrost than the bread?
thanks everyone
made a batch of twinks hobnobs for the first time, they were out of this world. I can see the addition of a blob of melted choclate being added to next batch. But what a lot the recipe made!! so much for losing weight this week
I too was wondering where everyone had gone, I miss hearing from everyone.0 -

I have n't been on much either recently - try to bump it though!
Hope everything is OK with DD & D - think she has her hands full at the moment.
I got a fab muffin book for a gift last week, keep just looking at the piccys - how sad am I!! Made blueberry ones yesterday, with some woopsies I had in the fridge - they were scrummy, but will have to invest in proper muffins cases!
I will post a few recipes as I try them - Carrot, ones and lemon drizzle are next mmmmmNo Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

I always do one of each - kids love the nutella one - don't use too much though it leaks out the top - just a small scrape should do it.No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

Made these last night. Very yummy they are too! I always add some extras to my flapjacks - a good handful of each type of seed I have in my cupboard (sesame, flax, sunflower, hemp and pumpkin, except DH has eaten all the pumpkin!, plus coconum) and some dried fruit. I - ahem - ate all the raisins (yes I know I can't moan about DH eating all the pumpkin seeds) so I snipped some dates into the mix.
I add a grated peeled apple to mine as well0 -
Thanks Shaz mum of 2 - that's a fab recipe - I will have to slip it onto the plates of the manic-meateaters when they are not looking LOL!
I made the Hugh Fernley-W banana bread posted hundreds of pages ago - oh my god it's the best banana loaf I have ever tasted and I hate dried apricots - doubled up and made two gave 1/2 away to Mum, about a slice left (shame on me!) of the first loaf and I am going to hide the second one
I also made a chilli the other night and threw in some sundried toms that I found lurking in the back of the cupboard and a jar to tesco salsa - it was delicious
I agree the thread is not the same without Dee but I'm sure she will be back as soon as she can, Dee if you are reading this - I hope your and your family are ok0 -
I have one mammoth week ahead of cooking, DD turns 8 on tuesday and I have to cater for a picnic of 12 adults and 11 kids. I was going to be naughty and buy a platter of M&S sarnies for the adults but the cost...so, I have a beef joint which I will slow cook on Monday for beef & horseradish, was going to do coronation chicken (easy peasy), and something plainer - any ideas???
Kids, I am going to make two types of sarnies, babybel cheeses, yogs, fruit and crisps
I'm going to make a huge batch of sausage rolls for all of us and a load of cupcakes with the delicious chocolate frosting that one of your lovelies posted - I've experimented and DD's favourite is white chocolate with pink icing
Then I have got 30 for dinner so I am going to make the biggest pizza's and serve it with salad
Dessert will be birthday cake, more cupcakes and left over xmas chocolate
If anybody has any fantastic picnic/lunch ideas - I'd love to hear them
I made sausage rolls with cranberry sauce, put a bit too much cranberry in but they disappeared in 10 mins0
