Ok, if there's a brownies recipe that uses up beetroot I WANT IT!!!(pleeeease) When you've time D&DD.
Also , I've a pack of dried prunes staring at me from my cupboard and I need a way of using them up ,very disguised, preferably in a cake or something. Does anyone have any suggestions?:A

I think I might need this recipe.... time constraints permitting of course!
I made Nigella's mini mealoaves the other day - very quick and a big hit here...I substituted Branston Fruity Sauce. Good hot, great cold and there are some stashed in the freezer too
the only thing that springs to mind for prunes is chopping small and adding into a cake recipe you already make - how about adding to banana bread?0 -
I may need to search for that mini meatloaf recipe....may be something ds will actually eat!!
Have spent a day filling in ds DLA review form which is so bloody depressing.....writing everything your child cant do compared to others his age!! I feel like writing at the end of it..".but it doesnt matter I love him anyway, its only autism"
I hate pulling him to bits like you have to do in these damned forms.
Will be having a baking day tomorrow to cheer myself up!
Hope all went well today Dee

forgot to add, made more scones today and used cherries as well as plain and fruit ones. Also had to make more of twinks hobnobs-I'm sure neighbours turn up when have made a batch, and finishing a christening cake off with a fairy theme as the little girl is 2years old. On that note does anyone know of where i can find a template for making fairies for the cake? i have seen some ornamental ones in cancer charity shop and i was thinking of using that for the top of the cake as a little keepsake for her. I wanted the templates so i could draw around a few and see whether it would be worth having a dancing fairy ring on the top with her name in the middle- what does anyone think about it?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

Strawberries tend to go quite mushy once frozen as they have such a high water content so even if you open freeze them on a tray they're unlikely to retain their shape and texture once defrosted.
They do freeze well though if you are planning to use them for making smoothies, jam etc. I wouldn't go to the bother of open freezing unless you are just planning to lift a few out of the freezer at a time.
This older thread has some suggestions that may help:
Freezing Strawberries

Thanks for that Pink.
I was planning on using them to mix in with Greek Yoghurt as it's one of my favourite snacks at the moment, sounds like they might make it a bit runny though, guess all I can do is try it out and see how it goes.Following the Slimming World Plan and Exercising

Thanks for that BOB:A
I was having a down day yesterday about it all...I just get sick of having to fill forms in all the time....DS is on High Rate DLA at the moment and has been since he was diagnosed at 2......it is up for review though in the summer when he is 5 so have it all to fill in again....i find some of the questions difficult to answer, ie, activities of daily living....how many times a day does your child need help with this?...erm 24 hours a day!!......and how many minutes does each bit of help last?...eh?.....it is constant!!!
I still have some to do today but then it will hopefully be done...i have a fab 60 page indepth guide to filling it in from Cerebra....if anyone else has them to fill in it is worth a look!:D
I am doing some baking today as well as the form....have a loaf in the BM and a marmalade loaf in oven at the mo....still have buns to do and some of DS beloved gingerbread men.
Doing some HM garlic bread later and Hm canneloni.
Its amazing how many people on here have disabled children....I always felt so alone in it so its nice to hear from others with the same problems and same aspirations for their lovely kids:T0 -

chop them small and put them in flapjacks or the trail mix I posted earlier?
I make a banana and prune fool by woozing up bananas and tinned prunes, then add greek or plain yogurt, kids love it. maybe if you soaked the prunes for a bit you could try something similar.
Prunes just dont last long in our house! what a thing to say :rotfl:0 -
minimooch so I take it you are a 'regular' poster ?Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0
