Welcome AlwaysHappy - I found this thread middle of last week and I am hooked - the chery bakewell's are to die for
Thanks to rosieben, purpleivy, harduphester and mama67 - I shall try and hide the "to be frozen" portion before I serve up dinner in future
Well DD and I have had a great weekend in the kitchen - we made smartie cookies to take to Dad's - they disappeared v quickly - the kids loved them. Yesterday we made a chocolate cheescake and some choc muffins
Homemade pizzas for tea as we Dad and Stepmum had cooked us all a big xmas dinner on saturday it was delicious.
Tonight we are having Fiona's Fiesty Chilli (from DD's Shrek Cookbook)
Does anybody have a good biscuit recipe? I bought a set heart biscuit cutters to make for Valentine's day with DD - she wants to drizzle chocolate over the big one, middle = plain and ice the smallest heart and then pile them up like a wedding cake
Also has anybody used the Nigella's Mini Meatloaf recipe? what is Steak Sauce?
Feel gutted for OH - he is so fed up am hoping he manages to keep his cool as he is so worked up and he feels guilty for his colleague losing his job over him
thanks you, enjoy your Monday's:p0 -
Hi
I'm supposed to be using out of the storecupboard and freezer, but my good intentions are being thwarted at every turn! I got a HUGE heap of reduced fruit and veg at Morrison's yesterday and am busy trying to process it so none gets wasted. Got cross yesterday, got through to plan D before a satisfactory meal plan emerged for tea.... first was tortilla beany bake (but decided that DS can have a go at doing that) then Vegi Lentil Lasagne (DD decided she would be at a friend's to eat, so I decided we should have meat) then I realised that the next suitable meal wasn't possible, a casserole (because at 12 mins to 2 I realised I had chorus rehearsal at 2!).
Eventually, arrived home tired out at 5.15pm. Had the turkey, ham and mushroom in sauce with rice. THis has been bumped from the menu for the last month!
I took a photo of the mini trifles the other day and some baking I did, will try and get it on here.
Editing... have posted trifle pic in trifle thread.
Baking here.. Scones, Forest fruit muffins, seed bread and trifle sponge."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

wow PI - what an ace load of baking!
Hello to all the newcomers!
!!{hugs}} Dee - hope all is ok? Echo'ing JCR... you know where we are if you need to chat
Not done a great deal of anything recently... ds2 is still under the weather so spending a lot of time sat down snuggled up. DH has heard that his office is relocating and we have a definite date which means I won't have a car during the weekTrying to get myself organised with shopping deliveries (for the storecupboard stuff) and sort out what we can do in school hols etc before I loose the car... but is also means dh's work fuel consumption will increase by a couple of hundred pounds a month compared to £0 (he can cycle/walk atm) so am having a quiet panic about that...
look foward to hearing seeing more baking photos!0 -
Dee hope everything is going ok.Come back soon this thread just isnt the same without you!

PI that baking looks great! :T
Yategirl, what a pib to be losing the car, my dd was without a car for a while. She shopped online so that weekends were free to do things as a family. Can your OH claim any of his travelling expenses back?
Donna, sound like your dd is doing really well with the baking, she'll be OS when she grows up :T
Dee, we're all sending positive thoughts your way!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Was reported here that there were 59p pineapples at Aldi. Popped in but they don't have any, problem with supplier allegedly.
Neither was there any bread flour."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Honestly, doesn't rain but it pours. Skint this month and my exhaust falls off on Saturday :rotfl:
Cannelloni for dinner with left over chicken and spinach and have the usual manky bananas in the bowl so will do banana bread later when the ovens on for dinner. Thanks Yategirl for the recipe.
Oh and I how long before I get over my pancake addiction - made them 4 times since Pancake Tuesday
Dee, hope you're back soon and all's ok with the family, hugs and stuffLove MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
