she's getting there-thanks for asking.
shes come home with steroids, antibiotics, calpol and a nebuliser and inhaler!!
she had a severe chest infection,i took her to the out of hours on the 23rd and he diagnosed a chest infection-prescribed antibiotics and said we'd notice an improvement almost instantly.well we didnt and by afternoon christmas eve she was just awful so i took her to the doctors and he sent us straight to the childrens hospital who admitted her.
she was on oxygen and intravenous antibiotics for 24 hours along with the steroids, calpol, and nebuliser.
christmas day morning she was awful and it was really distressing to see her but she steadily picked up from there and was allowed out very late christmas night.
straight home and into bed(where her little sister already was) and we decided to have 'our' christmas today.....we've done the presents and that dd is a lot better however her little sister is now throwing up everywhere so again not to plan!!!
there's always next year!!!
but i wanna make donuts!!!!! lol!!!!0 -
Hi there, my son had one of these for Christmas and have to say we tried it out yesterday and they were delicious.
The booklet says to wipe the non stick plates over with a damp cloth and then switch it on for 10-15 minutes to burn off any coating on it. It may give off a smell but not to worry.
Basic Doughnut batter mix:-
100g plain flour
60g sugar
1 heaped teaspoon baking powder
pinch salt
1/2 (large) beaten egg mixture
85ml milk
25g melted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Topping
35g sugar
30g melted butter
1. Mix the doughnut ingredients together to make a smooth batter.
2. Plug the dougnut maker into a mains socket. Allow the doughnut maker to heat to maximum operating temp with lid closed (when it reaches maximum temp the right hand light will show - takes approx 5 minutes.
3. Open the lid carefully and fill each compartment to approx 90% full with the batter mix. Close the lid and cook for approx 3 minutes but keep checking. My mixture yesterday made approx 18 little doughnuts.
4. The recipe says to roll the doughnuts in the melted butter and then the sugar, I omitted the melted butter and just rolled in the sugar - delicious.
Hope this is of help to you.

Hi All
Sorry ive been a bit AWOL lately - we've had our fair share of lurgies here, first ben had chesty flu, then he gave it to me and his father, bens cleared up, ours stayed, then ben got a stomach bug, whcih he gave to his fahter, bens cleared, bfs cleared, then i got a sinus infection above my eye, bf got stomach flu back and now ben has a cold!!!! so needless to say our christmas has been eventful.
Had a good christmas - no gadgets for me - they only thign i did get kitchen related was my american penpal sent me american sized measuring cups so i can use them on all the american recipes i find now which will be good fun rather than trying to bleeding convert everything!!!
Have been deciding on my new years resolution and so far have come up with 7 which i hope to achieve within the next year!!!
1. Lose weight - want to be back to pre baby size (12-14) and im a 16/18 now so achievable if i focus!
2.Keep a diary - somethign ive always wanted to do and think it will help with the insomnia i seem to suffer with lately to release pent up thoughts/emotions.
3.Learn a new language - Welsh. Handy seeign as i live in wales, will help with job prospects and that inevitable day when ben asks for help with his homework
4.Get a new job - i hate the one im in now, its not nearly challenging enough
5.Get some savings together - either for a holiday, rainy day fun or a jsut incase fund as i dont currently have that saftey net
6. Grow my own veg - moneysaving and rewarding in the sense that its fresh air and exercise and a much needed hobby which bf insists i need!
7.Start taking better care of myself - ie taking me time, dentists visits (somethign always seems to come up), regular hairdresser trips, jsut generally looking after Sam for a change and her mental wellbeing.
so these are my resolutions for the year - wahts everyone else doing??? plus im obviously goign to look at gettign a healthy store cupboard together as well as continuing the store cupboard challenge to try adn help keep my savings on trackTime to find me again0 -
Thanks rosieben.................that helps a lot. Just looked in ours and looks like we've got the right things.........except anything to do with cake making. We're neither of us big on cakes as such.
Now, looking at the cupboard with the cleaning stuff in I need to have a re-think about that and stock it with more natural cleaning things............white vinegar for a start and other bits and pieces.
Any chance of some help with that ? I'm a bit of a newbie so only just getting round to all this sort of thing.
(Have to add..........its a super site, super forum and so friendly and helpful, many thanks:T )Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Hi Mary
Was jsut going to add quickly about the cleaning products.
I find stardrops, white vinegar, soda crystals and bicarb of soda are really good to have about but also make sur eyou have plenty of microfibre clothes too becuase these are really good for cleaning everythgina dn can jsut be bunged in the washign machine and washed so you dont have to keep replacing them. Plus i keep a little obx which gets all our odd lost socks in too as i find these make good dusters too and it seems a shame to waste them.Time to find me again0 -
