ok I'll check it out, never looked at it before. As I've just posted on the Jan GC, I'm cutting back my budget for Jan as I want to use up stocks. So I wont be ordering from Wilko till Feb or March, but will investigate quidco in the meantime.
    Thanks for the tip! ;)

Search for things like Mexican food ingredients online, shops like this pop up http://www.casamexico.co.uk/products/detail.php?category=40&product_id=736 you might even have one near you. I ordered cornflour last time masa harina, from www.mexgrocer.co.uk to make the corn tortillas, lasted me ages but have ran out now. Save money on recipe books, either ask for them as presents or make your own from the internet. I copy recipes and put them in a folder, do plan to laminate them when I have time. You can get some recipe books on mexgrocer aswell.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Hi all

sorry I havent beenaround for ages - hubby has been nagging me about the amount of time i spend on the computer. And he's been home for the last couple of weeks so i cant go on the computer without him moaning about it lol! He finally relented today and plugged the computer back together again so have spent most of the last 8 hours catching up on emails and reading all the posts on here!

I think I read a post much earlier on where someone asked about my spice jars and could i post the ingredients that i put in them? Sorry but it was a lot of pages ago and I cant remember who asked. Well tomorrow I promise to list them all for you guys! Call it a belated xmas pressie for all my new-found friends on here!

Also going to spend a couple of hours listing on ebay - 10p listing on everything! Got loads to flog so definitely going for that! - hubby needs a full kilt outfit for works functions - says it looks smarter than a suit! So got a lot of money to make from ebay before i can get him one!

DD&D - i actually managed to make rainbow cakes yesterday and they are all gone! So made double the batch today (although i had to use chocolate sprinkles as i ran out of rainbow ones!) and there are a few left - going to make the braids tomorrow as well. We had home made pizza tonight with dough from the BM - kids ate loads and we saved about 10 euros (roughly 7 quid) so am really happy and definitely going for it in 2008!

Will post more tomorrow - speak to you all later

Thanks for that! I might have to go to Taj sometime this week and see if they have any nice, Mexican bits I can try. They sell 'global' foods, although I've not been there for a while so don't really know what their range covers anymore. Otherwise I can see myself making a few orders once I've paid my bills and mortgage!

  • Well aren't I glad you lot told me about the Wilkinsons plus website. I've just ordered a great kitchen trolley in the sale which I've been wanting for ages, just couldn't afford. Mum and Dad treated us for our anniversary in a couple of weeks. :T

Haven't been doing too much baking (after stepping on the scales :o ) but did make chocolate eclairs. Had no idea they were so easy to make and delicious. Wanted to get some in the freezer but we got a bit greedy and ate them all.

OH just made a lemon drizzle tray bake with my new square silicone cake tin. Could do with freezing half of that but its just so scrummy. Must get on that OS diet before the doors frames need widening. :p

What have you all been baking with your new 'toys'?

well i have cooked my beef in the sc for new years day, took out a jug of the stock for the gravy and stuck it and the cooked beef in the freezer and just chuched in veg and broth mix into what was left in the sc. so hopefully i will have some nice broth for later (hope it works as i have never done soup in the sc before).
made 18 blueberry muffins last night and had one for breakfast this morning and they are delicious so have stashed half of them in the freezer too.
Need to sort out the freezer its bulging and the cupboards as i think i wont need to shop for ages but then again if i want to build up stocks............
oh perfect opportunity to try and work out a menu plan for january whilst im rooting around the freezer etc.
    regards

    Thanks :)

It's not been going very long, there was a couple of codes before Christmas but I haven't seen any since. They were listed on the ukhotdeals website and a few others. Delivery is on the website, think it's £3 ish. There is a slightly more expensive delivery where you can select day and time, but when I ordered it like that it didn't arrive on time, so haven't bothered since. I think that is partly because of Amtrak who they use for parcels, the one who delivers locally for them here is USELESS!!!

We also don't have a Wilkinsons nearby, I used to visit one regularly when I took my sister shopping in another town but she's moved and goes elsewhere now. It also saves me carrying back all the heavy stuff, none of the Wilkos even a fair distance from me have a car park near them. Admittedly these orders I have put in are much more than I would buy from a shop, years supply hopefully of soda crystals, washing powder, shampoo, showergel, razor blades & shaving gel for DP etc. For my GC I will just put in a pot for whatever I open from the 'stores' that way building up a pot for next times stocking up.
One day I might be more organised...........
