Anyone Still Waiting for their loan?

To be fair, the lesson to be learnt here is to apply before the deadline
I did so, as did my friends, we all got ours 3 days after we started uni.
Well as I said earlier, I applied way back in early April and I still haven't received mine or had any correspondance saying I qualify ect..
How early before the deadline should we be applying?? :rolleyes:0 -
Have you phoned them to check it's gone through?
Sometimes they're still awaiting information/documents0 -
Just had my sons loan and grant schedule through today.
Important take this letter with you to registation.
It says it needs his National Insurance Number to release the loan. This is the first time they have asked for this information.
*Maintenence grant was paid one week after he started.*

in all seriousness, if you applied that early, yet haven't recieved anything inbetween that time you really should have contacted them shouldnt you?0 -

I have contacted them on many occassion. Always just getting fobbed off obviously.
It's difficult to speak to the people who are actually looking at the claim for funding as I'm in the pilot scheme and can only get throught to Student Finance Direct who speak to the pilot scheme employees on behalf of the claiment.
I can't force them into hurrying up my claim. I can just tell them my situation and hope they get onto it.
Seems there are a lot of us sailing the same boat.0 -
Lokolo: I applied before the deadline but still had problems - some of us did everything that was asked of us and still had problems.
the devil made me do it: I understand how you feel with the phone calls.
I spent around 3 hours a day on the phone to SLC last week and I was normally given 3 different responces, the first being that it was the fault of my LEA (as I applied online my loan is no longer delt with by my LEA and is only dealt with by the SLC), the second being that my university hadn't confirmed my finance notification (the schedule letter that Rikki reffered to - I hadn't recieved one) and the 3rd responce was that a manager (mr or mrs X) would phone me the next day - when no call would come the next day I would phone back and mysteriously there would be no record of mr or mrs X working for SLC (this happened a few times with different names).
It turned out that they were waiting for my online decleration form to be signed and returned, of which I had signed and returned all 4 of the ones they had sent me. Last friday my brother got his loan through and when I phoned the SLC to ask why he had his and I didn't have mine (being that we were in the exact same situation) they claimed they had recieved his online decleration form but not recieved mine. The funny thing being that we had sent back both of our our forms together in the same envelope each time. By this point I had had enougth, I told them I felt I was being discriminated against and I was going to officially complain. I was immediatly put onto a manager at head office who appologised for the whole situation and gave me a bit of a lecture about how the SLC never discriminate and he told me he would look into the situation. The next morning my loan came into my bank account.
It seams that saying you are going to make an official complaint, magically makes missing forms re-appear. On the bright side I have saved a months worth of rent - although some of that money is going to have to go towards buying thank you gifts for the people who helped me out, from offering me a sofa for the night, or buying/cooking me some food so I managed to have atleast 2 or 3 meals a week.0 -
Glad you got your loan ollieda! Is anyone stilll waiting for theirs?
I am and have just got a bill for my 3070 tuition fees, to be paid within a month...does this mean these have also not been paid for?
I had better get everything within a month bcos i have no way of paying out 3 grand!0 -
I've got two kids who are freshers this year. One got his loan two weeks after registering at Uni, the other is still waiting and SLC (both had online applications) say they are waiting on him stating how much he wants to borrow. It's crazy, his status is "approved" and he's had a notification of the precise sum to be loaned for tuition and maintenance. I'm gonna be on the phone on monday.0

I applied at the beginning of May and didn't hear anything for a while so i phoned student direct and was told several times that everything was ok with my application it there was just a delay getting the updated statuses on the system.
Then last week i received an email saying that they were still waiting for the documentary evidence, despite three separate people in the organisation saying i was not required to send any. Spoke to several rude scottish males who work at student support but eventually got through to a friendly woman who told me what I needed to do.
Everything moved pretty quickly once i sent what they wanted and i received the disclaimer form and sent it back today.
Does anyone know how long it takes them to get around to putting the money in your bank?
Thanks0 -
