Apologies to jump to another subject as not up to date with thread yet.
I need advice please.
My chest is very tight and ive started coughing...., it appears another cleaning product i just cant tolerate.(am not asthmatic)Has anyone got any suggestions?, i just want a multi purpose for kitchens bathrooms etc.. I might have to resort back to my trusty old plastic jug with hot soapy fairies that do dishes but i do like to spray something on the loo for 10 minutes before i go back and clean.
Thanks
edit..
apologies.. i think a few pages back you have been discussing cleaning products not sure if its in relation to smell/sensitivity/ etc will go back and read when feel better
Personally, I think you should go see a doctor ASAP. Yes go to A&E. Tell them that you’ve had a reaction to the product you used and that it’s brought on “something like asthma” and that you’re finding it hard to breath.
You don’t need to have a history of asthma or a pre-existing diagnosis to have an attack. FWIW, the first thing I was taught about asthma when I was nursing was: pump the right chemical into anybody’s lungs and they will have an asthma attack. The chemical differs for all of us but we all react to something.
I hope you feel better soon.

Fuddle the way to look at the shopping trip is that it's a long walk with friends and it's mostly undercover so you probably won't get wet doing the walk. When the HT was a baby we quite often did a couple of circuits of our local outlet village without going in any of the shops. Fresh air but undercover. You have a good eye for colour so I'm sure you'll give good advice even though you don't need to buy anything. It's also good for giving you ideas about where money can be saved. The HT's school shoes always come from the outlet village and they last all school year. That definitely saves me money.
MrsLW thanks for offering to be my adopted mum. The actions of my mum weren't entirely wasted - both my sister and I were left with very clear ideas about the kind of parent that we didn't want to be. As our dad was an alcoholic (he's still alive but has advanced vascular dementia so his pub visiting days are over) it also means that the two of us are very close despite living in different countries.
Picklepot I am asthmatic and bitter experience has shown that if I stand too close to whatever I'm spraying that causes problems. Stand well back if you are going to spray anything. I used Mr Musc1e window spray at my friend's house (her windows, her spray) and ended up needing steroids because I stood too close to the windows.0 -
I wonder if using spray products as opposed to other formats is itself key to the problem? Such as having tiny airborne droplets of chemicals in enclosed spaces which you then breathe?
I don't use any kind of spray cleaners because I prefer the simplicity of liquid products such as cream cleanser (tosspots basic is not inferior to the expensive branded ones).
A dear friend of mine, a highly intelligent lady, had caused permanant damage to her lungs by accidentally combining cleaning products in the bathroom and creating chlorine gas. She required emergency medical treatment at the time and every single cold since has gone down onto her chest and caused major problems.
Lovely peeps, please take care of yourselves. Better some grime than scarred lungs.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I don't use spray things at home. Spray deodorants are also on my list of pet hates as are people who wear so much perfume that you can taste it.....0 -
I like to spray the worktops and wipe dry with a cloth otherwise they can look a bit smeary. Ecover is the only thing that doesn’t set me coughingIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Fuddle, it's a great idea to bond with your sister, and yes look on it as a good walk.
I'd be upfront and say something along the lines of 'I don't usually shop at places like this, I prefer charity shops' - the great thing these days is that you can adopt a high moral tone about the ethics of cheap fashion garments! I'm not seriously suggesting you make anyone else feel uncomfortable about their choices, you want it to be a good day out after all, but those of us who have been reviled for shopping in CSs now find we were in the vanguard as people start to realise what fashion really costs.
It's the same with tap water, I have been asking for it, even in very posh restaurants, for years - now instead of looking cheap I am assumed to be taking an ethical stance! :rotfl:Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Never a truer words has been spoken by you ladies. I actually feel discomfort around my left lung when I breathe in hairspray. I now have a no aerosol rule about my person and living space. Cleaning products are just the worst. I was using Method for a while thinking they were a bit better and then I used the bathroom cleaner. It may as well have been a cheapy product. It had such a strong smell.
Chemistry was never my strong point (and shush monna with your 'neither was grammar!') so even the thought of mixing vinegar and bicarb has me worrying because I've read about your friend before GQ.
Thank you for you kind words about the cardi. I was on the phone to MrsL today and I told how embarrassed I was at letting you all in to how my mind works in panic mode. My plan of action is a bit feeble but hopefully a nice warm card will come out of it.0 -
GQ cream cleaners? What do you use them for and are they strongly scented?0

My pal, in a moment of haste, combined a WC cleaner with household bleach in the toilet bowl. This was not a good thing to have done and she's a bright lady, not some airhead.
Cream cleansers don't seem to smell of anything, they're a mildly abrasive product, I think it's a ground up rock or something (tried googling but just keep getting hits on beauty products, lol) in a thick cream.
It cuts grease and the mild abrasion is useful where w.u.l isn't quite cutting the mustard. I keep one bottle in the bathroom for use on tub, basin and tiles, and another in the kitchen for use on countertops, stainless steel sink, tiled tops and the stove top. I also use c.c to wash my tiled floors with. It's my go-to product, second only to w.u.l. I usually use it with one of those scratchy sponges.
Some of the more expensive c.c. s seem to contain bleach but even the cheapy one I use (tosspots basics) has a mild bleaching effect. If I get a stain on my plastic faux beige marble countertops, I put a bit of neat c.c on it and leave it a while and it gets rid of the stain. I usually let it dry in situ and moisten it later. It'll even lift beetroot stains! HTH.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
