I have got together a bag of bits for the cs as I am working there tomorrow so no second thoughts. Don’t know why I keep so much stuff these days as I didn’t until recently. Most of the stuff I discard is cs bought because it’s a good label and cheap. Must be more discriminating about what actually suits me before buying not weeks later when I have lost the chance of taking it back except as a donation.
Have also decided to buy quality instead of quantity with regards food. That way portions will be smaller and so might I.All that clutter used to be money0 -

Thank you lovelies for the advice on the cookware:D. I have a Sainsburys a short walk away so will have a look. I don't go in there that often as it's quite expensive. I check to see if they have reduced things such as fish or if I need an item I know I wont get out of aldi etc and if not head over to the aldi which is literally across the road from it :rotfl:
Sainsburys must have lost so many customers since aldi opened last year.0 -
Well I got off to a great start for Simpler Living yesterday.
I cleaned out my garage enough that I can now park my car in it!
I sold an old exercise bike and some stools that are no longer needed - made $50 and cleared some space, so very happy with that.
Did some re-arranging in my bedroom in preparation for some new bedside tables that I want to get. I moved the old ones (Ikea drawers) into the closet, and now it runs so much more smoothly with the extra storage.
Filled half a garbage bag full of clothes to give to charity shop. (I also took a bag full to my mum and sister the other day). I got rid of most of my jeans because I just don't wear them. I used to love jeans but now i can't stand the feeling of them. I will buy some new, stretchier type jeans once the weather cools off here in Australia.
Today I am going to try and sell some cuttings from my succulents (have got so many) as well as a couple boxes full of household stuff (plates, bowls, cups, etc)0 -
What a great thread just finished reading through started yesterday morning!
Can I please join in need to simplify for 2018 did start koding but never finished now got worse tried to downsize wardrobe which was going well but over the years more got added will be my first project so much easier getting sorted in mornings with only few choices trip to charity shop coming on later
We are mortgage free but have been trying to save for retirement coming up fast but not added as much as originally planned this time last year  so this year will stop getting talked into going out socialising drinking and meals out which has gone from once a month to at least once a week DH luckily agrees so we will be start with declining New Years Eves celebrations when we would both rather be sat at home with few drinks and something home cooked get back to hobbies like walking which we used to enjoy writing this down now Has brought home how much money we have wasted over the past year but we just got into a routine which needs to be broken can imagine it sounds horrifying to most of you.
I want to get back to baking from scratch growing vegetables and fruit shopping wisely and looking for least packaging with your help and determination will become more achievable.Frugal challenge 2025

Not sure this is simpler life, but we’ve decided to host an open house for our neighbourhood this pm for a couple of hours - maybe build a bit of community spirit? And eat up some of our surplus food! Will be interesting to see how many turn up. I know some friends are coming. OH put invitations through some doors. There’s one couple we are friendly enough with to talk on the street but don’t know their names so maybe will find out if they come. Nothing extravagant, just a drink, savoury & sweet nibble-type things: trying to keep it simple!0

Hello,
Can I pop along to? I am making simple living a proper goal for 2018 and have decided to focus on one thing a week to help me achieve this, I will be doing other things as well Ideally something everyday but as I really don't do anything now, lost all heart and soul in 2017, I need to go slowly. I'm pondering making bread again this weekend for the first time in at least a few years!!!Frugal Living Challenge, Household £0/5,000 Personal £0/3,000 Starting on the 25th Jan.

Hello simpllivingislandlife
I love making bread. Do you have a breadmaker? I bought one from eBay three years ago which had only been used once and I use it at least once a week. I think baby steps is a great way to ease yourself back in to simple living. Good luck with your goals.

My Late husband and I started this one year not long after we moved into our new home. It was a fabulous way to get to know everyone. Over the years it just grew and other neighbours would take turns to host. Then of course the summer barbecues started. There would be two or three barbecues over the summer. It was fabulous and it set up a real community spirit. We lived there for 24 years and we made some wonderful lifelong friends.
I have started something similar here. Only as a widow I have set up “girly film nights” for my female Singleton neighbours. It’s great fun. Our next one is New Years Eve and my next door neighbour is the host.0 -
