May I join, too? I’m another one who will probably read but not post too often. It can be difficult as I’m not convinced my OH is with me on the simpler life - well maybe in some areas but not all. For me it’s as much an ethical thing as a need. Having had the privilege to see how simply people live in Africa I’m convinced a simpler life can be happier. I wish I’d seen things this way when I was younger. Stuff does not make you happy! So I’m with you all the way.0

My oh isn't on the same page as me on the desire for a simpler life. So I do have to make some concessions. I guess after 10 years we all change - and I have considerably - so I make some concessions as does he. Overall he wants to have a mortgage free life but for different reasonsDF as at 30/12/16

I have spent far too much of my time today trying to take back control of my email account through unsubscribing. I will have to just unsubscribe as they come in from now on.
Christmas gave me a second Pringles tin so I have one for my knitting needles now. It's covered in red and white spot fabric so is aesthetically pleasing as well as useful and free.
I'm slowly taking down the festive decorative 'clutter' and I'm feeling clearer.0 -
May I join you all please. I already have a fairly simple life as I am retired/uncluttered/mortgage free etc, but there is always room for improvement isn’t there. I have decided there will be no clothes buying this year as the wardrobe isn’t simple and I am determined to save a lot this year following an expensive year helping out various members of my family. I have worked out my budget and everything looks doable on paper so fingers crossed. All that clutter used to be money0

Hi everyone, can I join in. I'm so fed up with 'stuff', 'BLOODY STUFF'. People would probably think I'm minimal, but I have loads of stuff in drawers/cupboards, OMG don't mention under the stairs. I'm on a mission to really minimalize by new year. I like to recycle, so containers will be washed, rather than dumped, but I think I can mostly do it. I love clothes though, so I will only keep ones that I love n wear. I will replace a few bits, mostly from the charity shop as I hate creating more waste and I don't like looking like everyone else, the rest will be bagged n sent on their way. It's vintage #donchaknow. Anyway, off to declutter. Merry Xmas Everyone.0

Finally convinced hubby to go through his wardrobe/drawers when he got home from work today. :T Charity shop will be very happy with additions of shoes, trainers, hats, coat, jackets, tops & trousers.
Quite remarkable really, as clothes from circa 2000 with holes in and stains being kept "for undershirts" or "just to mow in" are his specialty!
The bags are all tied up and in my car already...don't want any creeping back in. :rotfl:0 -

I notice several people posting that they don't much care for parties - having Canine guests to stay has, since 2009, been the perfect excuse not to attend any gatherings. I have severe social phobia, and even having Mr LW's pal over, on his own, for the evening makes me extremely anxious.
We do have tickets for the opera in April, but that's all that's planned thus far. That will be fine, as long as we don't see anyone we know in the bar/foyer beforehand. That happened once, and we couldn't seem to shake them til it was time to take our seats for the performance. Then I spent the whole interval on tenterhooks in case they saw us again and came over to chat.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi all,
I'm needing a new casserole dish (yes need, not want!). I was looking at the cast iron ones. Are they worth their money? I'm not talking le cruset expensive though - some of them are half my monthly mortgage payments  Or do you prefer to keep to glass ones?
Edit - Or how about stoneware dishes?
I've been given one of those amazon echo's for christmas :j and using the free trial of audio books I've downloaded a Marie Kondo one and have been listening to it whilst doing other things. I have to say a few things are making sense from what she is saying and I think some of the things I've heard so far are very doable. Just to get the hubby on board now.I'm glad I downloaded it rather than read it as I don't think it would be as effective in writing.0 -
I have had a Le Creuset casserole for about 25 years. It probably has 25 leftI wanna be in the room where it happens0

Sainsbury’s do a nice range of Le Crueset style cast iron cookware.
They currently have a sale on, casserole dishes are £17.50 reduced from £35. Might be worth a look.0
