I am a size 9 :eek:Snap! I was outside a chazzer last month and a very smartly dressed (and petite) woman was sneering at some shoes in the window to her friend, calling them 'gravy boats' because they were 'so big' (7s). I felt like asking her if she admired supermodels - she looked like a fashionista - and whether she understood that women who are very tall (like models) also tend to have big feet?
But I'm chicken and kept my trap shut :rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

There are often large sized ladies footwear in the chazzers around here - I guess it may be related to our health authority having previously been one of a very small group offering treatments on the nhs. Oh and the numbers of showbars clinging onto Funny Girls' tails!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

My poor sister has felt embarrassed her entire life because she has size 7 feet and thinks they are enormous. Her eyes were like saucers when I told her that at age 12 two of my daughter's friends had size 9 feet and it was obvious they hadn't stopped growing (well, it's true, one of them was a policeman's daughter:rotfl:)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I can still recall a fellow student, back in the day, bragging that she'd never paid full price for a pair of shoes in her life (size 3).
I managed not to tread on her as I left the building but it was hard to see her all the way down there near the floor......... I'll get me coat.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I am tall, but also very muscular so I am big in general (my whole family is).
I would not have been able to keep my mouth shut. I would have turned and smiled at the woman and said "probably a good idea not to slag people with big feet off whilst they are stood next to you" and then I would growled and made 'monster hands' :rotfl:0 -
But then her comment that she was lucky about never having paid full price for her shoes yet would have translated into "exactly what she said" and not been meant to be taken as "criticism of someone else". It would have been meant as exactly what she said she was saying, ie "How lucky I've been" and not "How lucky I've been - and I'm criticising those with bigger feet":huh::huh:
Her comment reads to me that she was referring to herself and herself only....nowt wrong with that.0 -
Oh yes. My big aim for a simpler life is not to interpret comments as being attacking or stinging. I'm not daft, they generally are with some people, but I'm trying to not be so sensitive. In brushing things off I have worked out that I can remain calm, not experience negative emotions, not have my confidence stripped, not react and subsequently make myself look stupid.
I had twinges round my heart, tachycardia and out of the ordinary high blood pressure after a terrible episode with MiL a month or so ago. I absorbed it emotionally and saw the effect it had on my health.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me... I'm trying!0 -
Fuddle ignoring or dismissing comments is a great skill to have in your corner, maybe you could crochet some armour too?!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Other peoples anger, cruelty and downright nastiness is their problem girlie, it is for them to deal with, for them to sort out and for them to rectify. You are your own woman, have grown in confidence and self esteem over the years I've known you and are now in an altogether better place in your life, are strong enough to withstand the storms they create by their thoughtless and hurtful words. You are a lovely strong little family unit and have worked your way through situations and problems that would have totally flattened most people. Those who speak out with venom will get it back tenfold in the future, you will go from strength to strength despite their input and make your future bright and good!0
