    Is anything on it thats is not on normal digital TV ?

    By 'normal digital TV', do you mean Freeview? If so, the OP is trying to save money and presumably does not have a aerial, but has a working Sky dish, so Freesat makes sense (though Freesat from Sky would make more sense, if PVR functions are not required).
    The channel line up is broadly similar.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
