Cancelled sky and trying to set up Freesat

905 Posts
Trying to save some pennies now that I have become a single mum
So, I have cancelled Sky which has gone off tonight and trying to set up Freesat before the morning but in need of help.
I have two cables coming into the house from the dish (I realise it’s two so you can watch and record but I’m not bothered about that). My new LG tv has a Freesat tuner so I have attached one of the cables by screwing it in.
It is doing an automatic search and finding channel, although they are for London and would prefer East Midlands. However, even though it is finding the channels, when I go to view them it says no signal. What am I doing wrong.
Any help would be great as I really don’t want to have the expense of getting an aerial

Richer Sounds gave me advice on setting up a Wii,ages after we bought our tv from them.
Sounds like you're using the wrong input to me.
Edit: just had a quick Google and it's possibly because you've got a Freeview TV aerial plugged in as well as the satellite input? If so unplug the TV aerial.
Sky had to do this too, but your subscription card would have had the regional info on it.
You might find it better to get a Freesat set top box, which will give you a lot of the functions of the Sky box, which you'll miss out on just using the TV.
Freesat uses exactly the same dish alignment as Sky, so it should just work 'out of the box'.

Above only applies if you have a skyq box, of course
In this case I had to go into the menu and turn RF ( radio frequency ) from off to on.The default tuning is off when the freeview recorder is new.
That will defeat many people who would have to call out the bloke from the shop and pay him to twiddle with the remote for 30 seconds.
