Well, have been to Costco and now £118 or thereabouts lighter. However, we have enough kitchen roll, bog roll, soap powder, coffee, beans, orange juice etc to keep us going for about 6 months. Yes, Nelski had left enough for me. No need for dishwasher tablets - my dishwasher is 60, going grey, getting a wee tubby tummy but does a good job!!!!!!!!!

Almost had a disaster before we went out. I had put cleaning cloths, microfibre cloths and some white things on for a wash. Suddenly remembered that I shouldn't put softener in for the microfibre cloths. Managed to rescue situation by removing the drawer and washing out the Comfort!

Been back up the loft and DH brought down some more stuff for me to sort out and feeling really good. So glad we have started this as it is major but still upsetting memory wise when I see all the things I have kept from when the kids were really wee. Their Christmas stockings are still up there and no way are they going to the tip!!!!!!!!!!

Keep your head high and don't feel ashamed. He is one weird guy according to your blog. You have done so well to move on and it is wonderful the relationship you have with your children.

    Please, don't be down.

    Evening all,

Once again the tsetse fly has been at work....OH woke me at 11.30 with a BLT and coffee....nice to have breakfast in bed, but disappointed that I had missed so much of a lovely morning.

After breakfast and shower we went to pick up the walnuts which are falling as they ripen from DB's tree....got two or three kilo with more to come...the tree was sown about 20 years ago and this is the first year that there has been a harvest, other years there were a few which dropped long before ripe. I am delighted as have never had fresh walnuts before.

At the moment my Dundee Cake (recipe courtesy of Grannyboon, thanks GB) is half way through being cooked, the only deviation I have made from the recipe is that I didn't have what I considered to be enough brandy in an open bottle to soak the fruit, so I topped up with a glass of Bundaberg rum which nobody likes very much....apologies to Aussie and all other antipodeans! Put the usual almonds on top, not as many as usual as I think that I will use some walnuts and coloured cherries to finish off, probably should have put on the walnuts now, but will glaze the lot and hopefully it will be grand...would feel guilty not making a cake for Christmas but will end up eating 90% of it myself so should probably not have bothered.

We had homemade pizza for dinner...just with salad, nobody seemed very hungry to-day.

Hugs to PenPin, JackieO and all others who are not feeling well

I have just watched Wife Swap - Oh my goodness. If My DH started to run fingers over the doors - well he would be dead in my house!

MeanM - thank you so much for trying out the cake receipe I gave you. Any alcohol I am sure will be fine. Don't worry if you slept late - you must need it. I am now looking into getting out of work early getting pension predictions. The last week or so has made me realise a wee bit extra lump sum might not be the option - your pm a while ago made me think.

Well been in loft again and came down with DD's year book 1988-89 and there is such a poignent story regarding the week after her grandad died (DH's dad). Been weeping buckets again but not in a morbid way. A beautiful child's view of death and coping with it at the time and feeling so much love and consideration for her Gran.

    Love and hugs to all.

    Hi everybody :)

Not been on here yet today - been to church then rehearsing and singing a choir concert. Was lucky enough to get a lift home from one of the other singers who lives a couple of miles from me.

Penny-Pincher texted me earlier - she's feeling rough at the moment but says maybe she'll be up to a visit from me in a couple of days. I'll text her all your good wishes.

I have spent an OBSCENE amount of money this week - on things that I wanted rather than needed, and things that I needed but didn't actually have to buy right this minute. I spent £25 when The Book People visited my office. Then the worst bit was yesterday, when I made the mistake of taking the wally trolley and a credit card when I went out to buy a bag of spuds (I had to take the WT as it was full of cans and bottles for the recycling) and ended up deciding to buy loads of storecupboard items I need for certain recipes (and some beer) ... £32 later  Then this afternoon I arrived very early for the choir rehearsal and went browsing in the local Oxfam bookshop where I ended up spending £12 on some really interesting CDs. And yet, I still haven't bought the two things I really need - popsocks (I get them from Primark, and I even went in there today but couldn't face the long queues) and a new umbrella (mine is on its deathbed) - and haven't bought! Aaargh, I was so sure I was going to NOT spend frivolous cash between now and the end of the year, and top up my savings to a nice round amount, but it seems I'm only human after all

Anyway I'm not usually like that!

    Hope all are well

    Love Rzl xx

MeanMarie I loathe Bundy Rum too. Actually all rum. :D I'm more of a scotch girl. Although I know you call it whiskey.

Rzl We are all like that at times. It's a fresh week now. ;) Time to be good then.

Well OS & DGS have just popped out but will be home soon. I should'nt be on here as I want to do a few things when he's out. My groceries should be turning up shortly. I better get going. Hope you all have a good nights sleep.

Ah, I know. But I have already spent loads this month cos of joining the gym and buying all the things I needed in order to do so. And I have got at least 2 dinner dates (with friends, not with rich sugar daddies :D) still to fund this month. And I've taken my dad out for his birthday. And been out for a meal with my mum and my brother. And if I come to the Arms meet...

Oh la la la la la (that's me with my fingers in my ears not listening to myself :D)

You're right, it's not like I'm getting into debt - it's only money that would have been going into my savings. It's just I was going to be sooooo self controlled for the rest of the year :rotfl: It isn't working :rotfl:
