Daily Thread for Sunday 14th October

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th oct. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Well my grand plan to stay off this site has gone to pot. But as I'm up early and can't do much else without waking the rest of them I thought I'd catch up. ;)

I've had a busy week with the girls being off and despite the rubbish weather at the end of the week we've had some fun.
Both girls are back to fighting form (literally) and we've had plenty of blackberry picking walks, followed by lots of hot chocolates and lots of baking. A few lazy days in front of the telly or drawing at the table too. They're off for another week so I hope to get in a few play dates for them next week. I have enjoyed having them off. It's been an emotionally challenging week in other ways so it's been good to have a distraction.

I have done a tonne of baking and cooking through the week and for the first time ever have stuck to my meal plan rigidly. :j I've just done this weeks and have worked out that if I use what I already have my grocery spend should only be about £15. :money: :D

As well as foraging in the hedgerows this week I've been scouting round the charity shops for jars etc. Got a few lovely ones and picked up a Marguerrite Patten cookbook for 50p!! (Thriftlady will be proud of me) ;) Also got 10 old fashioned lemonade bottles from Au Natural for 45p each which I'll use for flavoured spirits for Christmas pressies.

Today should be fairly quiet. I've just set the ironing board up and will try to get ahead with that. With the rain and a Kaput TD I'm struggling with the washing. Was going to head into the office before the gang wake up to catch up on paperwork for OH but might wait until after they're up and give them a nice brekkie. The BM was put on to be finished at 6am and the smell just now is driving me mad. :o
Tea will be roast lamb. (our butcher does 2 small marinated joints for £5), with roast sweet potato, pepper and courguette, roast spuds and yorkies. And blackberry crumble if I can be bothered. ;)

Hope all is well with everyone.

Hope you're Ok Tired mum. x

oh yes.......and hark at Aussie and her banana growing neighbours. :p (they probably think if they give you enough fruit you'll stop spying on them.) :D

Haribo x

Edited to add.........sorry for the essay :o

Edited again to add.........sorry it's actually the 14th. (Pink are you up yet to change it????)

Good morning Haribo & everyone else,

Well I was just going to come on for 5 mins but it took me nearly 1/2 hour to read your long essay Haribo. :p:D Wrong date and all. Tut Tut. So I better make this short and sweet to make up for lost time. The banana giving neighbour lives behind me, not may I add is it the one I spy on. They are next door and much closer. :D

Congratulations on your win in the Rugby :T:T :rolleyes: You have no idea how [STRIKE]annoyed[/STRIKE] happy it makes me. :D

Well DGS has just woken up and we are off out. Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Good morning Haribo and Ausielass and all to follow....

you two do make me laugh !!!!! Aussie.. i watched the rugby for the first time... it was great, much better than watching football... didnt have a clue what they were doing and why, but it had me shouting and cheering on the end of my seat !!!! its so funny watching them half kill each other !!!!!!! cant wait for the final. Haribo i also went to a car boot sale yesterday, dont get to go often as they are normaly on sundays and i have to work, anyway we got there just as it started to drizzle so people started to pack up and i saw a stainless steel fish steamer ( i think ) it was a bit dirty but had the bit inside and that looked ok and i got it for £1 so im well chuffed, put it in the dw and it came out looking brand new.

its still dark here and i have to go at 7am, i dont drive so i ride a bike, but i think i m going to have to get some light now, so will keep to the sidewalk ( yep.. ive been to America !! )this morning.

have no idea what to have for dinner, dont fancy a roast so maybe jacket spuds or wraps

dw emptied and half refilled again !!!
have left a note for oh to hoover and empty rubbish.. Mmmm wonder if it will get done?
    have a great day everyone

Morning folks. It's a real good feel factor morning today. Egnland won the rugby and football. Good wins for the Cornish Pirates rugby and Truro City Football... so feel good factor is brimming over.

It looks pretty wet and miserable out there today. No idea what to do for tea... Might do a meatloaf for a change. Very nice if you have never tried it.

Got really mad yesterday....     Went to Tesco, bought loads of stuff and they refused my Capital one 4% cashback card. Called the customer service at Cap one and they said we are having technical problems... That's great. I chewed her out and left with NO food. Yeah should of had a backup card, but I thought i would just take one card in my pocket instead of a bulky wallet. Well cheesed off I was. I thought about binning it, but with the 4% I have made over £50 already.

Church later, and then American football tonight. Glass of wine and late start in the morning... It's going well....

    Morning everyone.

Well, wasn't the rugby brilliant? Glad you enjoyed it, AUSSIE!! I also enjoyed Strictly Come Dancing - I think it's going to be the most competitive one so far.

Well, I still coughed in the night but not as much as previous nights. This cold IS getting better but very slowly; I'm comforting myself with the thought that I won't be ill over Christmas, with any luck.

We have some horrible dark clouds outside so I hope it doesn't rain today. We even had some late afternoon sun, yesterday but I suppose winter is definitely on the way. Apparently, they have forecast a cold but dry winter, so I hope they've got it right, especially for areas that suffered so much flooding in the summer.

Well, I'd better take DH his cuppa so will call in later. Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    Morning everyone.
    Hope you are all good?

Is dull and raining here this morning, have been up about a hour and have cleaned up the mess from the party last night, although it wasnt to messy really.
Ds1 had great time, they watched the rugby and ate plenty.
Today have two footy matches, but will fit a chicken dinner in between them.
Then plan on a lazy evening in front of the box after a large bubble bath!!

    Have a great sunday everyone

    Morning!!

Well done the england rugby lads!:D didnt know about the footy so thanks for that N9eav!

Went for my pub lunch at a harvester yesterday - I had the "Cagun Big One" cagun chick breast in bun with salad n chips - actually the chicken was abit tough and the cagun tasted abit like mould:eek: dont know if its supposed to be like that:confused: tasted some of my friends who tasted the same so it must be!!

Lovely seeing my friends again and his house for the first time - he always told me he still had his original 70s wallpaper up in the lounge - and he does!!!:rotfl: Bright orange pattern - lovely and very chic now!! it was like being in "Life on Mars" :rotfl:

Nanny coped well with the kids - she said they were :A - I said she'd better look after them more often:D DS couldnt stop talking about how atthe park he rode on another boys bike "without stabilizers" - so now we have to take them off his bike today!! think he was even going on about it in his sleep!:rotfl:

Haribo - you sound a very organised domestic goddess this past week!

off to catch up on yesterdays thread now see if i missed anything.

have a good sunday all xx

I'm hoping for a more peaceful & less stressful day today. We've given the lodger a DVD player (borrowed from DS1) in the hopes that she'll watch it in bed instead of putting the TV on in the lounge at 2 or 3 in the morning. We're still waiting for her to decide if she's going away for half term, I've offered to waive the rent for the week if she does go away. Anything for a weeks peace. She's having problems budgeting, she wasn't prepared for the cost of living over here & her wages aren't going as far as she'd hoped. That said, she takes home twice the amount I do, but she was hoping to take driving lessons & now realises she can't afford it.
Nothing planned here today, hubby cleaned the fish tank out yesterday, I shall finish the housework I started yesterday, before I went to help DD2 & DGS, I'll ring later to see if he's on the mend. DD2 & partner are going to choose their wedding rings today, if DGS feels better. I had decided what to wear to their wedding & them realised the cardi I was going to wear was shocking pink & DD2's dress is dusty pink, so I'm wearing brown instead.
Hope everyone has a great day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all

((hugs)) to everyone, esp the sickies. Mr Pen-Pin ... if she's got you checking up on here for her, please send her my love.

70's wallpaper Shez? When I moved into this house, I had BIG flowery green and brown "Life on Mars" wallpaper in my downstairs loo. Hated it so it had to go - even though my friend said it was coming back in. I have kept my original 70's light-fitting in my hall, which, I am reliably informed, they are selling modern copies of in Habitat (for a fortune of course ;))

Having a lazy day today. Took my wally trolley to the market yesterday and spent nearly £40 on meat ... although I have a huge amount (and it's top quality too) That's all in the freezer but as there's only me and the boys here today, we will be having the jumbo lamb sausages they fancied, for tea. The joints can wait :D

Went to see the lights at Blackpool last night. Went to the chippy at Bispham for tea (the one we tried to go to on our OS meet) but TBH - wasn't impressed. Then let the boys run some steam off on the beach before doing the lights. I was going to park up and walk around but it started raining so didn't

Need to get on top of the mountain of ironing here too. DS2 has a party this afternoon so may do it then, assuming DS1 has done all his homework! Will need to get the vac out as well cos half the garden seems to have been walked into the house this weekend :( Bathroom needs a clean but that won't take long and the kitchen need a quick going over (I thought I just said I was going to have a lazy day ?? :rotfl:)

Anyway, going to have a surf before I get dressed and started. Hope you all have a great day.
