Morning all - busy time today. Had a nasty collision yesterday and sorting out insurance company and legal firm. It's my first every collision so it's all new to me, luckily it's a no fault one on my side. Police were very helpful!

I'm OK, just achey and mad as a mad thing!
(((Gentle hug))) it's horrid I know; we had similar in April 2015 when some doozer rear-ended us at speed. I'm glad the police have been helpful; take care of yourself. x
Oh, and have a ready "p***-off" speech prepared for the ambulance-chaser phone calls you will inevitably get; we were still getting them over a year after the accident.

TA I hope they don't mess Mr TA's meds about; I too am on Morphgesic and Oramorph; I have to actually visit the GP every 6 months.

Lainey I hope you're gradually recovering from hitting the floor at 30mph. Has Lulu apologised? ;)

Holly I hope you're recovering also.

I have Daisy Dog here til 6th December - which makes a great excuse not to go out for a meal on Mr LW's birthday (I put on a brave face and go normally, but I actually dislike eating out); I suspect he'll opt for a raincheck though, and we'll go when Daisy's gone home, but I'm hoping he'll have forgotten by then. (His birthday's 5th December btw).
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

  • TA nice to see you too . We didn't have to apply officially for me to act as dds appointee for NHS . There is an official way but that is more for dementia and lack of capacity issues .
Ours happened due to dds severe anxiety , lack of concentration etc .
We spoke to her one in a million gp and it was just added to her notes and comes up on the screen at reception .
If she's too ill to attend I make the call and after some wrangling she is no longer expected to be on the list to phone each morning early to see if there is a new appointment available . If I cancel they make another appointment during the call and she has peace of mind .

Does Mr TA have a named GP ? If the practice has shared care with St James he should .
If so this is a matter to discuss with him or her .
I imagine St James and any others send you a copy of the feedback they send the Dr . If not it is a matter of asking to be copied in .
Everywhere dd attends from the main hospital to other hospitals , clinics , physio etc send a letter to our home which is a cc of the one our GP receives .

I know you have enough on your plate already but it could be worth a try .
I know your husband has bloods taken at St James . Do the surgery also do some under shared care ? DDs MTX is issued by the GP on repeat with the main hospital in charge of the dosage .

Those phone calls are timesaving but don't help many patients . I found it was impossible to even do a brief list of helpful bullet points for dd as it is led by the person calling and unpredictable in content .

I hope Mr TA is keeping well and good luck for tomorrow .

If there isn't a named GP look at who is the best in the practice , they'll be the busiest with signs of over work and start the named gp process but I think there will already be one under the circumstances .

I was asked to put in writing that I wished Mr LW to deal with anything that had to be done by phone, and explain that I have a phobia of telephones as well as being hard-of-hearing. Even so, he has to do a little "verbal dance" with the surgery every single time, and prompt them to look at the notes and they will see that he's authorised to speak for me.

  • LW I got the verbal dance when it was first set up hence the wrangling mentioned earlier . DD gave her verbal agreement face to face with the doctor and it spread across everywhere she goes , I am her medical appointee works . When a new person appears at surgery reception repeated look at the screen whether face to face or on the phone soon gets them on track .
I hope all is ok with you both . I will catch up !!!

Not so far :D the scariest thing was, no matter how hard we tried, there was nothing either my friend or I could do to pull our horses up, they were in a real panic and being flight animals....just goes to show how much they tolerate us humans being on board and thinking we are ' in charge '

Sorry about your accident Gers please take care.

Thanks folks! I've spent most of the day dealing with paperwork (or email work) Here's my crumpled car...

    Car_1.jpg

I'm fine, think the aches will wear off. I was only travelling at 22mph at the point of impact though the t***y taxi driver was accelerating out of the junction and off the hill.

Luckily I have dash cam footage which puts me in the clear. Esure have been brilliant and sorted out an order for a courtesy car when needed, organised my contact with a legal team to claim my uninsured losses and agreed my choice of body shop. I live too far away from any of their contracted repair places and so were happy for my choice. I rang the dealer I bought from and they recommended a place in Dumbarton - still 70 miles away from me but on the way to DM which makes life easier. Enterprise car rental will deliver a car to the repair shop (for camelot - East End Coachworks). I'll take the car down to them on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile I found that the video footage of the actual impact was corrupt. The company (Nextbase) were also great. I uploaded the file, which took an hour from my field, and the technician repaired it. It's clear what happened and even the technician was shocked though not as shocked as I am!

For my first collision I'm so impressed with the so far smooth operation to get me back to normal. The back passenger door doesn't fit properly so rain will get in if I leave it out, that's just the least of the problems with the car.

So many people have offered help, one neighbour offered me her son's car as he's away! So kind.

I'm iin the middle of another 'challenge' with nPower - another missed appointment to add to the one missed on 08 November. Apparently they sent me a letter on Thursday telling me that the meter reader wasn't coming today - it's not arrived yet. I got a voicemail from them asking me to call them but I couldn't get through, today I called the number 14 times before getting any answer. Seems they can't tell me over the phone that the appointment had been cancelled! Just stupid!

Anyway... I'm sitting by a blazing woodburner and hoping for the best and eyeing a cheeky bottle of SB waiting for 6 o'clock, I have my standards!

TA - what a great result for your DGD - she could be the next Darcy!

Lainey - glad that your safety gear did a proper job!

Everyone - my DM's surgery now ring me before her as she can't hear anythiing. It was simple to set up and works well. And I can order her repeat prescriptions online.

Holly - are you still aching? Hope it's getting better.

Judi - my postie knows everyone in the area, will even take post from people, draws a line through the stamp and then delivers it on his way. Mind you, he's grumpy-plus to talk to but really helpful.

Almost wine o'clock! Sorry, but it's really needed tonight, yesterday I was too wrung out.

Youngest had an official looking letter today. The sender was requesting more details of his recent application form for a credit card. Needless to say he hasnt requested a credit card. Back to the action fraud website he goes...

Experian here he comes (when he has time)

    Have a good evening all.
