O/S Daily Monday 27th November 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Raining here and has been for some time, but not quite so cold, but still blustery.

Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, brussels, peas, yorkshires and gravy - lovely it was too, the lamb cooked beautifully, I cooked it in a roasting bag. There is LO's of yorkshires and mash, I'll be using them as part of the dinner for tonight, which will be pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy. I managed to get the menu sorted when I did the food shopping first thing Saturday morning, last week was a nightmare, I hadn't planned properly so meals were all over the place I finished up doing topping up shops as hadn't got the right food or hadn't defrosted something needed, cost a fortune, so have got myself properly organised this week, and back to it.

Today is my last day off before going back tomorrow, I have a large "to do" list, so will crack on with it all, absolute minimum achieved must be, xmas cake and xmas puds made, visit butcher re xmas hamper, go to town to visit bank and building society, visit the phone shop, my phone is dying, had hoped to keep it going but it's almost dead again this morning, so need to sort this, do the ironing, general housework etc - so plenty to keep my going.

Keep safe and well x

Thanks nmlc, enjoy your last day off.

Absolutely pouring down outside, so glad I bought salt/grit for the front drive yesterday! The drive was iced over and I had to use table salt to get to the front gate to open it. Next door neighbour kindly told me not to bother as there was a thaw on the way - no use when I wanted to go out there and then!

Enjoyed the fair yesterday but didn't buy anything. Free tickets meant a free day out and we had lots of nibbles.

The rest of the day was spent lazing about with some knitting, did put a wash on which is hung on the pulley.

Hope everyone is well, take care. XX

Good morning all and thanks NMLC.
Still dark of course, and cold, but there doesn't seem to be a frost. Yesterday was bright and sunny, though I didn't go out. Was tempted to go to M**rrisons, bargain hunting, but resisted, there was nothing I was desperate for.
Our evening meal was out of the freezer, and tonight's will be a steak pie I made last week and froze. I'm trying to use up freezer stocks.
Did a lot of housework yesterday, and some ironing beckons today - I try not to let it build up or I'll end up with a towering pile. Don't know how, there's only two of us.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.

    Morning everyone

It feels much warmer this morning than yesterday. We had the first really hard frost of the season yesterday. It looked nice from the inside but I’m glad I didn’t have to go out in it.

I plan on seeing how well I can walk on my knee this morning by walking into town to get some fresh veg. Hopefully it will be ok. It’s not too far to walk.

I will try and get some housework done today as well. The whole house needs dusting and the floors badly need cleaning so I will at least get that done.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

The wind is howling here and I think its raining, back off to work for me day eight in a row and Ive had enough now, roll on 4.30 today, in fact I might try and go in a bit early so I can leave a bit earlier, I am absolutely shattered !

OH got the kitchen flooring down so it now looks slightly less like a squat, the flooring is lovely and being a lighter colour makes the room look much bigger, hopefully he will start to get cupboards in today and maybe even the cooker.

Last night we had quiche and jacket and coleslaw all made at work but heated up here, the microwave is on the floor by the front door and I have a tiny cupboard right next to the front door which I am dishing up on !! Fun times !

Going to get some lasagne out of the freezer for dinner tonight, will buy a bag of salad on the way home.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Rubbish sleep here too.

Awake at 3am till 6...I wanted to cry when the alarm went off at 6.30...so tired.

I did absolutely nothing yesterday so I should be feeling refreshed, alas I just feel exhausted.

Have a good day one and all x

  • Morning folks. Wet and windy here too but at least it feels milder so that's a small bonus.

DGD's audition up in Darlington went well and she has been offered a place in the show. Rehearsals start in March for the show in May so that will be fun (not) travelling up and down for them. DD said it was an arduous drive up and down there yesterday. Before that DGD has the pantomime at Bradford Alhambra which runs till the end of January. Rehearsals for that start next week. It's hard work being a prima ballerina!

As for today I have no plans as all 3 DGDs are still here for another day. It's already like a bomb site from just 2 of them yesterday but it will be worse by the end of today. Do I care? No! They are all still in bed and long may they remain so as no school today. Both schools closed for teacher training. Breakfast will be the usual cafe with all wanting different. Lunch will be an easy pizza and chips affair.

Have a good day folks if you can and take care. ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, invalids and sad. xx

    Morning lovelies

Raining pretty hard here this morning but at least its kept the frost at bay.

Busy one today I have to try and sort both my laptops that have chosen to be poorly sick at the same time. One I can use with an external mouse which is ok but annoying but the other one (my work one ) is critical it seems. The fruit named store has no appointments so I found a local guy who can hopefully sort my work one then ill take the other one in next week. Thankfully I back up regularly after learning a painful lesson a few years ago.

Lots of work to crack on with today as well so no more lazy me :o

Ended up just having a beef sandwich last night just wasn't hungry enough or motivated enough to prep and cook the whole thing.
Today is a fridge use up day so may well be a brekky

Loving the jungle :) Toff and Stanley are my favourites but Amir made me LOL last night when he asked Ant and Dec if this was a task :D

Right best get a move on have a good day all :A
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

I am feeling pretty rubbish this morning, have not managed to sort out why yet, but decided not to change the bed, its raining, I might just go and get back in it!!

Hope I am better tomorrow have promised to take my neighbour to Bon Marche tomorrow and meeting DD2 for lunch Wednesday, neither of which appointments I want to miss. Will wait and see how the day goes. We have haircuts at 12.30 today. OH is beginning to look very unkempt right now.

Step son turned up yesterday with two of his children and two grandchildren, as usual just as I was starting to cook the supper. Thankfully they went before it was ready. He tells us his eldest daughter is pregnant due in May, grandson informed us he is getting married next year, he already has 4 children, talk about the cart before the horse!! It seems to be the norm these days.

No idea whats for supper depends how the day goes. Last nights lamb was delicious..........so I guess it will be some of that cold with maybe jacket spuds.
  • Morning all,

Day off today but I've already been to the gym and I'm sitting in a hotel in Glasgow sorting somethings out on my laptop then I'll finish some Xmas shopping.

My passport is about to expire and I filled out the form to renew and it said it was £75 for a new one.. that can't be right, is it?

Hope everyone has a lovely Monday.
