As a complete system it is unlimited devices and works with Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS devices so provides a multi-point defence against threats getting onto my systems

No battery optimiser, memory management or torch feature. :(

    0/10 from me.

There is no “best” a/v although there are some pretty average ones.

And why pay when you can get similar anti-malware protection for free without the unnecessary bloat that seems to accompany most paid-for versions.

Try this for a simple free but effective computer security set-up...

Windows Firewall – no need for 3rd party software
Windows Defender – now perfectly adequate for day-today use especially with Windows 10
Voodooshield - set to Autopilot to protect against zero-day malware
Malwarebytes – for weekly/monthly deep scans
Common sense – no clicking on dodgy email links etc.

Not much, if anything will get past this set up unless the user allows it. But as someone once said…Being safe on the internet is like being safe in real life. Be careful where you stick your pointer and always have a back up plan. :)

    What's with the bitdefender spam?

Edit: Which has now been deleted, thanks ;-)

Recently started using Sophos Home Premium on both a Mac and a Windows machine and been pretty smooth, I'd say it's great for families due to it's cloud dashboard so can see and control features of a particular machine.
  • I've used Bitdefender (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), Kaspersky, McAfee, ESET Nod32, AVG, ThreatFire, Avast, Avira, and Windows Defender (Windows 10). Among these, I have retained Avira.

I used to have a paid version of Bitdefender (that's why I've been using it for over three years back then), but Avira seems to be . After a few weeks of using it you'll start to see pop-ups at the bottom left of your screen to upgrade to this and that there are X number of threats out there, but if you can live with those pop-ups Avira should address your needs.

Anti-virus free products reviewed here (still suggesting that Windows A/V is poor in comparison with others)

I also recommend Malwarebytes realtime; licenses can be bought cheaply online.

I still see lots of computers with "your computer is at risk" popup boxes -which panic people. I have seen these on clean computers with browsers without addons and appear to come from links invoked within adverts which are not clicked on. Anybody seen these and know how to stop them? (I guess an adblocker but is this the only way to stop them?)
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

^^ And you believe that you need AV on android and IOS ?? :rotfl:

Sadly with Android its turning out to be not such a bad idea given the number of dodgy apps there are in the Play Store. In the months running up to Epic releasing Fortnite on the Android platform there were several malware that came out purporting to be it, one or two even making it to the Play Store for a short period before being pulled.

Latest tests suggests that WD more than holds it's own.

Can't help with your 'computer at risk' problem as I've never seen a pop up like that, however, I do run UBlock Origin.

At home (since I fitted an SSD and reinstalled Windows) I'm just using the in-built Defender product (together with Malwarebytes Corporate which runs realtime - I got it free a few years ago via a link on MSE).

Before that I used to use Bitdefender free.
