Car oil change ?

Hi guys
I wonder if anyone of you could help me here.
My car oil engine light is on. I checked the dip stick and there was only a few ml of oil on it. I put a litre of oil on. Still the engine light is on.
It's either really low and I need to put more in. Or would I need to take it to garage and get it changed ?
What do u recommend?

Have you checked the dip stick again? You need to fill it up until it's at the max level on the dip stick which is probably much more than 1 litre.
Then investigate why it had got so low.0 -
Then investigate why it had got so low.
Probably 'cos she only checks things when warning lights come on.0 -
The oil light coming on indicates that you have probably just wrecked your engine.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

Is this the Audi you bought, have you bothered to have it serviced since your last posts about it or do you just keep running it until something goes wrong?0

Investigating could be asking yourself why you never checked your oil levels.
It was YOU being sarcastic, I was just making it clear to OP.0 -

Some cars (as been highlighted on here with a Yaris) can use a LOT of oil and be considered within "normal" useage. The Yaris was 1 LITRE per 1000km as I recall. We had a 1.8 Duratec Mondeo which was high useage as per normal.
What I'd do if I were the OP is get it checked over and then check oil far more frequently going forward....it may be that the consumption is within normal for their car......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
The oil light is not a "You might like to check the oil, because the level's a bit low" light.
It's a "Your engine does not have any oil going round it. Turn it off NOW." light. So, yes, the level is VERY low for it to get to that stage...0
