    And what's your problem?

I take it you're one of these professional drivers who think they are professional but actually drive like sh*t like everyone else.

I'm a lorry driver. I drive between 100,000 and 150,000 miles a year. I most likely do more mileage in a single week than you do in 2 months. My run on Monday alone with the travel to work as well is likely to be around a fortnight's worth of what the average person does. Not only that, unlike you where you're just travelling the same road to work and back and maybe the shops I'm driving all over the UK.

Last accident I had was 24 years ago when someone ran into me at a T junction, The last at fault accident I had was in 1991. I estimate I've driven over 2 million miles points and accident free. You? Based on an average UK annual mileage of 10,000 miles a year people do if you got any points or had an accident at any time in your driving career from getting your provisional at age 17 to when they put you in the ground that would make you worse than me.

There's Sheila's Wheels & Diamond for females (or at least i think they are both female only insurers) but is there anything out there specifically for HGV drivers when it comes to insuring their car that may bring their insurance premium down a bit? I assume you'll just have to enter your driving licence number and the details can be confirmed through that?

Tried it on GoCompare but didn't seem to make a difference so wondered if there was anything out there like DirectLine (that isn't on GoCompare) but for people who've gone through the extra tests & became HGV drivers?

you understand one is a gender and the other a profession?
Shall we have specific insurers for all jobs?
The only caveat being any HGV based members type organisation may provide discounted rates.

No they had to stop that nonsense as it contravened the sex discrimination act.

They do insurance for everyone now, not just those of the female persuasion. ;)
Ahh i forgot - this is 2017, the year of the 'gender neutral'. :j

You do understand that i was clearly referring to them being 'specialist' (as in specifically for female only) rather than comparing a gender based insurer to a profession based insurer?
The 'MSE-way' would probably be right now to highlight my use of the word 'specialist' and detail how it's the incorrect choice but i'm sure you get my point or at least i hope you do?
Obviously i wasn't aware they stopped this 'female only' insuring so at the time i made the thread i was asking since there's a female only insurer out there is there also a HGV specialist out there? Clearly you're not going to have something like a librarian specialist insurer because that has diddly squat to do with driving so no need to get silly about it but as you need to take an additional driving test to be a HGV driver and we're talking about insuring ourselves as drivers then my question isn't unreasonable.

Yes if you get points while driving a truck you will still have to declare them to your personal car insurance.
I wasn't talking so much for points, i was talking more about bumps really.

The problem many HGV drivers face is impatient idiots on the road cutting them up, trying to squeeze in because they don't want to wait a few more seconds/minutes, they then misjudge & drive right in to your trailer for example.

Happened recently with a lad i know. This small Berlingo van type thing got impatient & story short found himself under the lads trailer through impatience. Became abusive but thankfully there were witnesses to testify that Berlingo-van-man was an impatient idiot.

It's more things like that i was talking about.

I've never had any points or had any accidents and whoopie do you do more miles in a day than anyone else in a year. I bet there are still plenty of times when you don't indicate or you cut people up or tailgate or drive too fast based on the surrounding area etc. Don't lie you all do it. Just need to watch a few compilation videos on YouTube.

Being a professional driver doesn't make you immune.

Statistically an old lady doing 20 miles a week is at less risk of an accident than you doing 5million a day.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.
  • Was that in 1928?

So they didnt insure you or your vehicle but added a staff car, probably whilst under business use?
My old firm would cover you under their insurance if running errands in your own car.
No, it wasn't in Dicks days and it wasn't a "staff car", it wasn't related to the firms insurance in any way. I don't know what it is with some people . . .

    Try again :p

Yes you are a liar and I'll call you a liar if I want to. Mr Perfect.

You say I don't know anything about you, well how do you know anything about me. You say I do less miles a year and only to the same work place and back. Well how do you know that? I could be doing 30,000 miles a year up and down the country.

    So !!!!!!.
