Car insurance for HGV drivers?

There's Sheila's Wheels & Diamond for females (or at least i think they are both female only insurers) but is there anything out there specifically for HGV drivers when it comes to insuring their car that may bring their insurance premium down a bit? I assume you'll just have to enter your driving licence number and the details can be confirmed through that?
Tried it on GoCompare but didn't seem to make a difference so wondered if there was anything out there like DirectLine (that isn't on GoCompare) but for people who've gone through the extra tests & became HGV drivers?

Not at all, HGV and PSV drivers are much higher risk so insurers usually add more if you select this job type!
They are deemed as more risk as they are on the road for long periods of time so more likely to be tired when driving their own vehicle0 -

Out of interest, if they have an accident in the wagon (be it their fault or not) or commit an offence - speeding, no seatbelt so on & so forth, it'll be on the company insurance policy
When they come time to renew their car policy & they get asked these questions, do they say yes they've been in an accident, yes they have committed an offence?
Thought just came to me now. I would guess yes but figured while i'm here i may as well ask.0 -
Yes if you get points while driving a truck you will still have to declare them to your personal car insurance.0

When I renewed my insurance, Sheila's Wheels came out as one of the cheapest for me.
Just as well I'm comfortable with my sexuality.0 -

No they had to stop that nonsense as it contravened the sex discrimination act.
They do insurance for everyone now, not just those of the female persuasion.0 -

Any decent Ins company will take the view that you are a far more experienced and safer driver than most know-it-all car drivers.
Of course it still depends on on your driving record.
Just to prove the point, the broker that insured a small transport company that I worked for, insured me Fully Comp, Driving other Vehicles for £10 per year. He already had all my details as I was listed on the company policy.
So yes, you can get excellent deals as a truck driver, but perhaps not on comparison sites . .0 -

And what's your problem?
I take it you're one of these professional drivers who think they are professional but actually drive like sh*t like everyone else.

Google Cornmarket Insurance. Northern Irish firm that specialise in HGV driver insurance, phone them up & they will ask you to email them your quotes from a comparison site and then they beat the best one.
I recommend them.0 -

Was that in 1928?
So they didnt insure you or your vehicle but added a staff car, probably whilst under business use?
My old firm would cover you under their insurance if running errands in your own car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Utter rubbish. Because they are on the roads for long periods of time and have far more experience they have the lowest accident rates of any road user group, typically just 1/6th of that of car drivers. Being a HGV driver has done nothing but reduce my insurance. When I changed job last year and put for quotes the quotes I got compared to putting in HGV driver were 35% higher. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
