Yes you can call them however the ball is very much in their court because if you don't like what they offer with a new 12 or 18 month contract then you'll still have to pay full price for the remaining 6 months regardless.

This is why I won't go for it, they have no incentive to give me any type of offer or deal as I will be under contract. I suspect any offer would be a bit of a token gesture attached to another contract extension.
