Stamp duty cut from today

Great news for FTB's, but not for those hoping to move up the ladder and are still hindered by duty.
That's not quite true... it's great news for those moving up who are also selling properties suitable for FTBs of course (as those FTBs will now find it easier to buy.)
All in all good news for the UK housing market but somehow I don't think the HPC crowd will quite see it that way.Every generation blames the one before...

Fantastic news will be a fab help for me0

Two weeks too late for me. Would have saved £5k! Was tempted to wait. Maybe next time...oh wait0

Is it not houses up to £300,000 - no Stamp Duty.
Houses up to £500,000, first £300,000 exempted, 5% on the rest.
I do not believe the second relief is limited to London, just that is would 'help' London.0 -

Yes there was no mention of London specifically. Just a "for those in areas where house prices are more expensive".0 -
2 years too late"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

If it was a week earlier, I would've saved £3,500.
On the upside, when the Help to Buy schemes were launches, house prices rocketed. Abolishing stamp duty might do the same, which will be an instant boost in potential equity.0 -
