Have been awol as had a big life decision to make and result is a promotion with a change of location and so a lot of pricey driving lessons and a soon to buy car!
Salary increased 4k and I have been promised that should I get the new department up to where it needs to be then I will get another 3k increase, possibly a little more.
The 4k increase is almost covering driving lessons each month and should cover petrol and insurance, possibly road tax and mot for the car next year... though not the cost of buying one ... but I'm taking it as it being time for me to be on the road and that this promotion and having a car will open me up to further job opportunities down the line.
I feel chuffed as my career chance has paid off and I'm on my way to finding the niche I want to work in. This is my 3rd promotion in a year and a half and my salary has increased 8k in total, though admittedly I was on minimum wage to start. For anyone looking to take the chance and switch jobs to be happy, do it
Upcoming expenses:
Driving lessons I am paying for weekly and so not included in SOA.
Buying a car....

Mini check in on here.
I've been using the 'Pay your debt by Xmas' and '1% challenge' this year and have chipped away at my debt to a tune of 818.87/4k.
I've been at my promotion for a few months now, spent all I am going to spend car wise on intensive driving lessons, passing my test, buying a car in full and insurance as an annual payment (sorted this today). Picking up the car on Wednesday and will see how far the petrol they give me will last for the rest of the month.
I have crunched the numbers and once the incoming (cheque, investment payment, rent from partner) and outgoing (car payment, insurance, mortgage and bills) have cleared I will have £600 emergency fund, £200 buffer in my current account and £748.68 in my account until payday in four weeks.
We have food in the cupboards, I have some days off which will be money spending free and no big plans for the month. Only outgoing is booking flights for a wedding in July, which I think should be done now to make it cheaper.
All being well I would like to up my savings by £200 to make 1k total emergency fund and send the rest to the debt. I know I am due £170 this month from cashback and other bits so I should hit 1000/4000 easily this month.
If I can get 1k emergency fund then all following months the spare money will go straight to the debt. I will be debt free by Christmas19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!

Going in a few hours time to pick up my new (and first ever) car! Will be driving it home alone, and may try driving to the shops to get some bits for dinner to celebrate. We have been living off a massive curry I made on Sunday, I think I've had it for four dinners, so feeling the need for variety!
I've finally had my Orbis investment paid in, and the cheque I cashed. Just mortgage and car payment left to go out and then I have calculated that I will have 1,370.47 left in my account... I would like to get up to 1k emergency fund, and then I would Love to over pay my debt by at least £200 to get my to 30% paid off... so cutting it low for petrol and food until payday in three weeks...
Nice to have some wiggle room though and know I can save and over pay if I'm sensible...19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!

Mini update.
£5 pending from bank for direct debits.
£5ish pending in Shopmium.
Just called and swapped two direct debits to my old monthly saver account and then going to do a nationwide bank switch to get me and someone £100.
Nothing else financial to report, other then I'm running low on money until payday!!
Cleared 3 bin bags of rubbish and recycling from the garden yesterday and 1 bag for the charity shop. Cleaned the whole house yesterday too.
So far at 17! Bin bags removed from the house and garden, 9 for charity and 8 rubbish and recycling.
Today I need to finish clearing the garden and shed and I think I will need to go to the tip with some larger items and store bin bags in my little outdoor cupboard until the bin is clear again. And charity shop visit.
Not sure how much umpf I have today after a busy yesterday!19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!

Chip chip chipping away. I posted this on the 1% and debt free by Xmas challenges:
Payday!
I've kept £350 for my monthly spending. If any of this is left over it will go to the debt before next payday.
£417.49 paid
Pay debt by Xmas 2019 #81: 1,727.61/4K
2019 1% challenge #18= 43.1%
Waiting for £410 more income to arrive in a week and this will be the next bit off the debt and take me over 2k and half way
If I keep not spending and sending to the debt I will be debt free in two more paydays, so 27.04.19
--
Hoping I can make a few hundred to top up the expected £825 I can pay each month as I will be shy a few hundred on the 27.04.19 date. It would be great to chip that away so I don't need to dip into my emergency fund to clear the last bit. I worked out that I need £212.39.
:money: I have just had a message saying that I am due an additional £7.45 from a closed investment.
I switched two direct debts to an old regular saving account and am waiting for them to come out once and then I am going to do a bank switch, hopefully for £100.
I'm waiting for about £1 from Shopmium.
Waiting for £5 interest to clear on my bank account.
Annnd I have £13 I think worth of items to return to a shop as I did not need them for diy.
I think next month is my first payrise month, so should be about £40pm up then.19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!

Have continued to chip away and am at 54.2% of this years goal.
Had a raaaaather big blow out on the weekend. It was my birthday and after a good few months of being frugal I spent a load of money on three dresses, a scarf and a load of treaty food at a festival. That plus my car issues I had last week has taken me over this months budget and chipped a bit away at my emergency fund.
I have 14 days until payday, whoops. And petrol, plus top up food is going to take me further down in savings.
The one plus side is I have an awful lot of food in the house, more then enough to take me mostly through, bar milk. I've been eating a lot better and have noticed that whilst this is more expensive, it has benefitted in less takeaways and junk food being bought.
I have a friend over this Friday to feed and entertain, but I think I have enough in to cook some good meals.
I have arranged not one, but two bank switches. One will net £100 for me and the friend referring, one £50 upfront and then £85 after a year plus £2pm. I also have a friend waiting to be referred from me, so that would be an additional £100. So at least £250 coming in the next few months in time to pay off some of the debt.
Selling wise I've had some bites from gumtree but nothing has stuck. I'm debbbating eBay, but I hate using it.
I have a couple of days off home alone (bar friend visiting) and this will be my only annual leave for months so I want to relax and self care.
My gym membership is up and was barely used so I want to walk/ run/ home yoga. Work is pretty physical in the summer so should be enough for me. Plan is to run tonight to kickstart being better to myself. I've not gone this long without exercise, and I feel physically weaker.
I feel like I should get stuck into a project, or read, something to make me feel like I've both relaxed and used the time off. Will give it some thought.
Will check back in after payday I think x19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!

So some things have come together to result in a big upcoming life changing event... so the goal really is to pay off the rest of the debt and to save to move.
It's given us a new kick. I ended up staying in with my friend when she visited and cooked home cooked meals and puddings rather then buying a load of stuff in or going out for the day. Tonight we also would have got a takeaway.
It also means I need to clear the flat of belongings in order to sell, so that's a real motivation to sell items and to not buy any more stuff. Plants and garden stuff are a big spend for me, so this will save a fair bit.
I have 1,830.99 left to repay. If my bank switches go through as they seem to be I know I have a minimum of £150 to pay towards it. My goal is to pay £900 from my salary this payday, so that is 780.99 to find. If I sell some items and use my emergency fund I should be debt free then by the next payday.... I'm going to post some eBay bits tomorrow and just start fully focussing on this!19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!

£50 came through from bank switch, so paid of debt.
I'm determined to pay off the debt this month...
It stands at:8219.01/ 10K
This year I have paid: 2,219.01/4K
2019 1% challenge #18= 55.4%
Outstanding: 1780.99
This month incoming I will have 1927.18
Outgoing bills I have 117 + 45.5 +18.72 + 453.36 +35.41 +19.82 = 689.81
Leaves £1237.37
Petrol seems to be £100pm. Although I haven't had the car long enough to be sure, sure.
I have £20 cash in my wallet, a £25 marks and sparks voucher, not enough fresh, but plenty of store food. I seem to be spending £150pm on food. My plan is to reduce this to £100 and use the £25 voucher towards this, so £75 coming out of my account.
I have a trip to London, so I need to book the train up. But I will explain to my friend that I cannot spend money, and will use the £20 to top up my oyster and any spending.
I think that if I aim for £1000 paid from my ingoings, then that leaves me 62.37, plus the 20 cash for any extras and going to London.
This leaves me 780.99 to find. I have 100 coming in from a bank switch within 30 days. I will be referring a friend but I don't think that will come in in time.
So 680.99. I have 7.89 due bank interest. 7.68 from an old bank account I have switched. 618.28 'emergency' fund left. That leaves me 47.14 left to find... but a very tight month... and no savings at all....
I think, with a bit of careful planning, and being strict I can do it...
I'm not near cashing anything out, so I think I need so sell some bits to keep myself I the red. I am honestly excited though. This feels like the start of something new!19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!
