  • I'm not sure how I feel about Xmas alone :o Not sure what their dads plans are yet though.

I don't like Christmas overall but I try to make the effort to enjoy it for the smalls. So on that side not having to go to relatives etc is good but I'm worried it won't be good enough for smalls just being 'us'

Guess I don't have long to find out :o

We don't do anything for New year unless we are away with the Family (which we aren't this year :o) So that doesn't worry me as such.

  • Hey, we always had Christmases that small when I was a kid. Single mother with no close family on either side, so it was just me, my brother and my Mum. I have such fond memories of it! We had a no-TV rule, and played board games and card games all day, and the attention and special time with her having her just sit down with us and hang out and not try and get a million jobs done (she worked full time as well as running the household single handedly) was worth everything.

    Your smalls will be fine.

I'm sure that you and the wee yins will have a grand Crimbo together
They've got the bestest mammy ever and you have got the bestest wee trio ever.

So, snuggle up together and watch the Crimbo movies, enjoy each others company and make fond memories for the future

    Have a grand day lass

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

  • We always have a quiet Christmas day now, Just C and I. My son usually goes yo see his Dad and comes back on Christmas night. We open our presents, have a nice breakfast, simple dinner and spend the day watching all our favourite movies. So much nicer than the stress of days gone by.
The children will love it. Presents and spending the day with their Mum is all they need, xx
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Thank you for the replies.

We have dominos/cards and they have some crafty things so lots to entertain them. I have a plan for breakfast and then they can open presents etc. I'm sure it will work out and I'm just worrying for nothing :o

  • :D:D:T:T to surprises from Santa!

Christmas in my house was generally Me, my parents, and my Nan for the whole day on christmas day itself and when I was small my Great Aunt and Uncle used to come over for the afternoon and evening too but from when I was about 10 it went down to just the four of us again and then after Nan died was just the three of us for a few years until MrEH and I got together. We very much made our own traditions - TV was always left off (we're not "just put it on in the background" people anyway) but usually we'd have the radio for carols etc in the morning. last year was the first year MrEH and I decided to spend just us - we do Christmas at my folks the week before now - and our new Christmas tradition is a walk on the beach to start the day. :D

Fingers crossed for the school sorting things out when the new head starts - that really is poor as they know full well how badly things spread amongst other children - the staff are paid to take those risks but the other children and their siblings and parents really aren't!

    Yay to surprise presents!

We've always had quiet Christmases, we've never had big gatherings of family. I like it that way, it's relaxed and you can just do what you want with no pressure.

Hope DD is better today. When I had to go and pick up DS from school when he'd been sick, he was still in his classroom albeit separate from the other children. I was really surprised about that!
