OK I'm going to chip in here on the DLA thing. Clearly WF has looked into this chased it, researched it etc. Does anyone have - or can find - any actual FACTS that confirm that there IS m ore that the MP's office can do in this situation? If so PLEASE provide that information (with links to specific cases if possible, for further ammunition) so that WF can forward it to her MP and give them a kick. if not though frustrating though it is (and for WF more than ANY of us on here, I'm pretty certain!) then I have to say that consistently "going on about it" (for want of a better description) is achieving nothing other than the risk of leading to WF ending up feeling that she is in some way not doing enough - which patently is not the case! (And I appreciate that isn't anyone's aim - this is absolutely NOT targeted at any individual poster either - in fact I couldn't even tell you who has referred to it from all those contributing to the thread!) I apologise if anyone (Particularly you yourself WF!) thinks I'm trying to speak for her, or stepping outside of my remit here, but it really does appear that there is nowhere further for WF to go with this one right at this moment - so while hard facts that she can use might be helpful, but any other discussion probably really isn't, and I'm pretty darned certain she'll be shouting from the rooftops just as soon as she gets any news, no?! ;):D

WF - fingers crossed for your lovely little family to all be home and back to normal routines by close of play tomorrow, with some answers and a much less poorly youngest, going forwards. xxx

  • There is nothing more MP can do. My understanding is that WF has now appealed the refusal of the DLA decision to the First Tier Tribunal (Social Security and Child Support Chamber). This is an independent tribunal I.e. not part of the DWP. It will now be up to the tribunal to list the appeal for a hearing and an MP is unable to influence that process.
  • Great news that you're still on for going home tomorrow Wannabe. Not long now :).

Good clarification (Did you de-lurk to make it? If so, nice work and welcome to the forums!)

    So was I.
Always nice to see other people's opinions.
    I shall shut up now.
"going on about it" I make no apology for as I am passionate for people getting what they are entitled to. I know from experience that MP's can have sway in these things.

Me too but I fully appreciate what EE has said and I agree completely. I'm sure everyone is just so frustrated by the situation. Thank you for the clarification, Videlicet.

Glad to hear that you'll be home tomorrow, W.

As I said - my post was not directed at any one person - I asked a while ago whether there was definitely no other avenue to explore also - I think most of us have at some stage - and of course it's frustrating, it's also very VERY wrong that someone in WF's position should be left in the position she is - and even worse that she tells us herself there are others in a worse state! I suggest if anyone is unhappy with what I said they report my post via the button on the bottom right and let the forum team take it up. I will however clarify that I have absolutely not told ANYONE to shut up, nor would I.

(Toni'sFriend I've looked for EE's post that you referred to but can't find it - was it relating to what I wrote and if so is it here and I've just missed it?)

    Thank you EH

    Thank you everyone else too.

I have tried and honestly I've called so many times it's been more than once in the same day and they've all told me that once I'd received the MR notice and the decision hadn't been changed that going to the appeal was my only option to have it looked at again. I will however speak to them all again when I'm home next week and ask again if it can be looked at again. I feel useless because I actually can't do anything to speed it up. I and the medical teams involved have sent pages and pages of 'evidence' over 150 sheets of paper in one set from the consultant to be looked at. I just don't know what else I can do :o

    Xx

Hello EH. I was referring to the above. I agree with what you've said and I, for one, have not taken it personally or as a criticism. I think we sometimes assume that MPs, Town councillors and others have the power to do things that they don't have. I am grateful that, Videlicet (who obviously understands the system) has clarified the position.

I hope I haven't upset you with my post.
