  • Could the hospital suggest someone, maybe a hospital volunteer or chaplain, who would just be a listening ear?

That's a really good idea. Or is their a support group for the wee one's condition. You don't really have family that you can talk to so maybe just talking to someone else might help.

Hope you feel a bit better today.

    Morning

    Thank you all :)

Cherry there is people to listen, they aren't really helpful on decisions as they can't be seen to 'sway' your choices. It is helpful though. I just feel like I'm the one always signing the forms and making decisions that could be the wrong one :o

I haven't cancelled the holiday as it's still a few weeks before I have to decide. I'd love to go away right now :o I'd love a break even if it is months away! We will sure miss the friends van we use to stay in.

Anyway on to today - I am up and ready for the day ahead, have packed the smalls some snacks and sandwiches. We will go to the museum and make use of the free things to do. Have lifted lasagne out for their dinner tonight and will make garlic flat breads to go with it.

Nothing much else to say I don't think - slightly boring or moaning recently :o

Hope you all have a lovely day

You are not moaning, you seriously don't need to say that or apologise. You have a lot to deal with and handle it so well, I admire you.

Don't cancel the holiday unless you have to. If you've got a few weeks to decide, just decide at the last minute. It will be nice for you all to have a break.

Enjoy your trip to the museum today x

  • There is a wonderful children's book called Something Else by Kathryn Cave, illustrated by Chris Riddell.
I used it a lot with Infant children and with my own son who was born with a cleft lip and palate.
Basically it is about being different, beautifully written and easy for a child to understand. Might be worth you reserving it from the Library.

Have a great day at the museum.
It might be worth looking into the Joseph Rowntree Foundation as they help with realistic holiday costs. We had several holidays funded when mine were littlies. (I think they are still going strong)
    January spends - £587.58

    Thank you

Milann I booked originally as we had the DLA and family fund where covering the cost. Although now we don't get the DLA we won't get family fund :(

It's not the end of the world if we don't go away.

We are in the museum in the middle of appointments. It's not as good as use to be though :(

Thank you too I will look for that book. Sorry I missed that off my last reply.

I just want to clear up the holiday isn't really a necessity nor am I really worried about it. It's just nice to post about something good to look forward to working at than all the bad moany stuff

Hi Wannabe, hope the appointments have gone well and that the children enjoyed the museum. :)

Do you have a good library near to you? Ours has loads on offer over the holidays. Story time, creepy crawly/bug sessions, lego club, model making, crafts, computer coding etc. It's absolutely brilliant for little ones and it's all free but you do have to book. DS is too old for it now but it would be ideal for your DC's ages. Something to maybe look into for their next school holiday.

It's definitely nice to have something like a holiday to look forward to and I'm sure nobody on here thinks you see it as a priority so I wouldn't worry about that. It's just a shame you don't know where you stand re. DLA funding it. But even if you do have to cancel, would you be able to book again if the money does get awarded?

Have a nice afternoon. It's started raining here :( xx

Thank you tea. The library does. So do the Salvation army. We just have had so many appointments this week we haven't been able to plan anything. I feel so guilty we are wasting the half term :o it's raining here too.

We are home. I feel rather fragile so going to get a hot water bottle and cuppa. Smalls are playing.

I just wanted to make sure it didn't come across as I felt I was entitled to a holiday etc. I understand it's the very bottom of our list. If I cancel I lose the deposit so I'm waiting until the very last moment to cancel :o I don't think the DLA will be sorted in time now. If it does get sorted and I've cancelled I'll definitely look at booking something

    Xx

Losing the deposit would be a shame :o

Is there any way your MP could hurry the appeal process up for you. I know everybody is a priority and you're obviously not the sort of person who wants to queue jump, but some people really are in worse situations than others and you seem to be one of them. You're having to find money for transport to appointments and now breakfast and after school clubs while DD is in hospital.

Anyway, have a rest now and enjoy your cuppa. xx
