That's fair enough then. What will the other 2 do, take something to keep them entertained or are they able to join in as well.

The birthday ideas sound lovely especially with a picnic and movie night.

What colour are you thinking of doing the girl's room? I painted DD's bright pink once that she chose. I knew after 5 minutes I wouldn't be able to live with it but carried on regardless. Every time I walked in her room it made my heart sink, I absolutely hated it :rotfl: And to add insult to injury when we painted it the next time it took 3 coats to cover it. :(

Think something neutral this time Tea then I can share the paint between both bedrooms - The one I'm in now is bright pink _pale_ it's even worse that's its basically an empty room with a set of drawers :rotfl: It doesn't even have curtains to hide it.

So yeah lesson learnt. Will go neutral on the walls. They have butterfly bedding and curtains so there's still some pink in there ;) I slept so well in youngest's bed last night I've decided once the birthdays are done and dusted my top priority is sorting myself a bedroom.

I will take the other two something to do in my bag, and some snacks and a drink :o

I've always been a neutral fan although I like a splash of colour here and there, but the DC's are allowed to choose their own bedroom colours. Although after the pink saga I put my foot down slightly and did persuade DD to pick something less vivid.

I remember a few weeks ago you saying you'd moved bedrooms and were really happy that you'd done it, but I've missed or you didn't actually say, that you've not got a bed. So when you say you're getting on the sofa you actually mean to sleep? xx

Girls would probably choose bright pink or purple :rotfl:

I don't have a bed or anything in that room other than a set of drawers so far :o Been trying to finish sorting the smalls out first :o

  • Hello and sorry never been on a forum just need help im 40 and cant get credit...all i here is 6 months it will be ok from credit agency ive herd that for the last 20 years..oe just get a credit card..please can anyone help...many thanks.
  • Wannabe, I'm so sorry that you don't have your own bed! Once you've got the kids sorted, maybe ask around? Single beds, at least, definitely come up on our local give-away site or very very cheap quite often. I have one spare, but I think postage from Australia might be a bit much...

You sound like you've got the birthdays sorted, but in case it helps: my girls are 7 and 10 now, and big hits for both of them in previous years have included a diary with a lock, a necklace with a 'secret locket', and the bigger one has been obsessed with origami since before she turned 9 - if yours like crafts, origami is great because it's quiet, not messy and can be done anywhere!
MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028
    14 August 2017 - Refinanced: $220,000
    January 2019 $211,580 Current MFD 31 June 2036

    Hi,

You're better posting this in the main DFW board.

Morning WB. Hope you have a nice day and the party isn't too traumatic. As the Mum of birthday child I'd make sure I talked to you and include you in the group, unless of course you prefer not to join in. Whichever way it goes, enjoy the coffee. xx

Thank you armchair, I will have a better look at origami it looks like something DD would love. A neighbour thought she had got a bed for me but it never pulled through. It's not urgent but will be sorted at some point :) I agree Australia is a bit far :p

Morning Tea, we aren't going to the party. Youngest has woken up more full of it this morning :o

Birthday ideas at the front of my mind - takes it off youngest appointments and tests. So I'm thinking - I will paint the girls room but need to do some filling of holes first (this was my old room that hasn't yet been touched since I moved here 7 years ago so still plaster walls :o) Then... Paint and polyfilla etc £19

DD1- her birthday first - A blanket/pillow (£13), A lamp (£6), Something to store/organise her pens/pencils (£7) and a cushion to make her 'desk' chair more 'her'(£5). I'm also in the middle of making her a desk which will be done for her birthday.

DS - He's next - He of course has his residential trip too. - An outfit (£14), A lamp (£6) and a blanket & pillow (£13)- maybe curtains if it fits in the budget (£12)

DD2 - Some sort of toy (£15), an outfit (£11) and blanket & pillow (£13)(girls share a room so she will benefit from the lamp DD1 receives)

I have my list for the bits needed for the cakes. Will go and get those this week. It also includes corn and a bag of sweets. We will have movie nights on their birthdays and a 'picnic' on the living room floor. (£6 + Gift card)

Once all the smalls are sorted I am going to save for a bed and to paint my own room. Then bedding/curtains. This will be a 'late birthday' gift to myself. Swapping rooms with the girls I still have no regrets over.
