  • Phew, finally a weekend at home!!! I intend to make the most of it by cleaning every room in the house and plan a cosy night in with my crochet :rotfl: Oh, the high life!! :rotfl:

I am meeting my parents on Monday night - last time before Crimbo - so I need to make sure all pressies for my side of the family are ready to hand over to them. I've kinda got most stuff but the thing I got for the kids looks a bit poor and something hasn't turned up on time/says expected 23 Dec... (but the seller has marked it as dispatched so I can't return it! Boo!) so not really sure what I'll do. Might make them both a beanie just so it looks like a bit more....

I need to check banking and sort YNAB. Looking a bit scary since all the things I've been putting money away for come out around now - car service/MOT on Monday then car insurance next week, Christmas pressies are almost done and dusted...

Think I'll call phone company to take off evening/weekend call package as prefer to use my mobile even when I'm in the house (better hands free kit...).

Also desperately need to clear out...Shoes me thinks today.

Right, sorry for the brain dump!!!

    Lots of love!! xxx

    Morning all :)
Cold and frosty here today, but no snow - my SiL in Derbyshire has had some
    So far today I have:
    Walked dog
Stripped off bed and washed linen
Sorted out fridge and chopped and froze some peppers and leeks that needed doing something with Also tipped half a tin of sweetcorn into a bag and froze. No food waste here :D
Got a Caribbean chicken curry (BBC, good food recipe, easy) using YS chicken drumsticks bubbling on the stove :)

    Still to do:
Leftovers / bits from fridge for lunch Done
Peg bedlinen on line, should dry a bit :)Done, must fold and put on airer to finish off
    Remake bed Done
Pick some coriander from greenhouse for curry (if it has survived!) Done, it looked sorry for itself, but found some leaves I could use :)
Finish off chicken curry, there will be enough for 2 days, love cooking once and eating twice :DHalf now stowed away in a plastic box in the freezer for another day :)
Make a cake to use up some OOD dried fruit Done, also grated the zestfrom a lurking lemon and put that in. Rest of lemon cut into chunks and frozen for when lemon juice is required :)
Some housework - downstairs could do with hoovering and dusting - we will see! Hoovering done, washed kitchen floor...
    Walk dog again Done

No plans for shopping or spending! :DNothing spent :j

    Morning,
I woke early too & got up to bung a wash on before more expensive daytime electricity tariff kicks in. Today's plans include:
*Making a start on writing our Christmas cards, as my aim is to get as many as possible distributed by hand where poss to save on postage costs.
*Make up ''Film night' gift pack. I've bought a mini bottle of cava, a bag of posh popcorn & a dvd box set (£6 2nd hand in CEX). No.need to biy cellophane as Mum gave me a roll of it she didn't want, & I have a nice ribbon to re-use.
*Talk to mr f about my festive baking plans as I need to get time for baking set aside in my diary so need to finalise what I will bake - defo 2 Christmas cakes, as one is for a gift.
*Have to pop out later (twice) but am aiming to find free parking even if I need to walk further as this will save over £4.
*Finish toe on my boot sock & cast on its pair.
*Give new Christmas tree a thorough water. Our usual one is now too tall to bring indoors. Mum had a much smaller one in a nice pot but no longer wants it so offered it to us. Managed to squidge it into the boot yesterday (mr f still going off on one about pine needles everywhere....) so this will have saved us about £30.
    *Finish libray book.
*Synchronise our diaries & calendar for the week ahead, as I need to get lots of stuff done.
Hi to all - have a nice Sunday,

  • Morning everyone
DNMS hope u are feeling better now and DawnW I hope everything is going okay with DD and for u aswell, and u are managing to get some time for u.

I went to bed early last night and feel so much better this morning, more normal whatever that is!
Heating on low now to keep the chill off the house as very cold here and the heavens opened again last night.
DD left one of her Christmas presents here for one of her coaches and asked if I could put it in the post to her. Even though the postage will be free(using my RM survey stamps) I decided to make full use of that postage and put other things in that DD constantly uses-her current favourite belvita bars(which have been on offer:T). Weighed the box, 30g under it moving into the next postage band:cool:
As I have a RM survey item to post tomorrow aswell, I decided to package up a friend's Christmas presents to also send with a note in to say not to buy for DD now, esp as she is 18 and at uni. Sending friend presents for her children as they are still only young and friend did the same for DD, I rather she spent any monies on her children.
Have brought down a couple of Christmas cards that I will have to send (will do this the end of the week with RM sramps-they are a godsend) but if I was more prepared I could have left them with DB to take with presents when he does the visiting
Friction within the family already (Christmas fight within the family every year, normally always involving my DM). Trying to find out DB plans as I know DB and his wife are going to his wife's family for Christmas and I just wanted some details as I have DN stocking stuffers. Don't need to travel over, they are calling in so petrol saved:).
Me and DD have just been making some extra plans of our own just to stay out of the firing line of DM who has become very grumpy and lazy since carers going in. Even though she can do stuff she won't and lying to the doctor is second nature, it is hard work:(
Freezer diving for food today, plenty of food in stock both in cupboards and freezer. Prob a trip tomorrow tomTesc@s for cat food.
Can't stop hoovering with new hoover, it is so much easier!
A couple of letters to finish today but other than that it should be a quiet day:)
Have a great day everyone x

    Morning folks.

I hope everyone is keeping warm! It has been BITTER here and yesterday it hailed most of the day - I've never known anything like it!

Dawn - I hope all is ok with your DD

Big hugs to everyone who is feeling sub-par

Seemed a bit of a spendy weekend in some ways but I'll see how it comes out in the wash. We had to get some Christmas pressies but this will be "repaid" from the fund we save up for through the year. Also a big meal out last night, which I nominally paid for but the money is coming back to me. Actually worked out at less than £30 per couple so not too bad.

After a poor few nights' sleep when I was with my mum, then early starts for work, I had the shock of my life on Friday morning when I opened my eyes and it was 10.30am  I must have needed that!!

    Today's plan:
    • Meals from plan
    • Log cals in free app (weight still going down despite the strange eating of the last couple of weeks)
    • Using work's elec to keep me warm at the mo. OH still fast asleep at home so not heating yet (had it going yesterday though as it was sooooo cold) - done
    • Reconcile budget sheet
    • Crochet commission. I have frogged the same two rows 3 times now. Grrrrr.
    • No alcohol
    • put washing away
    • Tidy up crochet corner. I have 4 wips and the living room looks a tip because of it.
    • List a load of bits on ebay. House is full of tat that needs to go.
    Have a good one all

DD is ok CLF, just me being paranoid. I am actually more worried about what OH's MRI scan will throw up, but just an extra side worry, if that makes sense (which I am sure it doesn't :rotfl:)

DD and little GD are coming over for lunch, as DD's husband is away this weekend. I have a piece of gammon and a tray of roasted veg in the oven, and will probably do pasta with peas and carrots with a side of grated cheese for GD, as that is the only cooked meal she seems to eat atm - at least it is fairly healthy I suppose!

Apart from that, today's plans include:
    Walk dog x 2 (1 done)
Fold up washing and put away
    Quick tidy round
Pack a couple of ebay sales, and there is another due to end today
Ought to dust the furniture later
No plans for spending - I often go to an early morning market on Sundays, just to get away for a bit, but decided not to this morning, as a) it was icy, b) I didn't get much sleep again, c) I am doing a big lunch instead of cooking tonight, and d) I don't actually need anything :)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Afternoon all, I have slept late today but don't feel too guilty as I got lots done yesterday.

Operation tidy up has taken effect in the sitting room, I have discovered what is wrong with the TV (broken remote) so don't need to buy a new one. I also took the small artificial Christmas tree I bought back to the shop for a refund and went out with my loppers and collected some nice twigs which I have decorated instead.

I bought a nice 2018 diary from the £1 shop and have put a dozen of my cards in a nice box for work secret Santa. Nice and cheap for me and will save the recipient a fortune over the coming year! The meal is tonight but is at a 'spoons and I have opted for regular menu so won't be expensive, it's so nice working with other people without the cash to spend at trendy eateries.

There is a fund raiser at a local dog rescue I'd like to go to this afternoon but I'm not sure I can control myself and not come home having signed up for a dog! Luckily they are a breed that can't often live with cats (retired racing greys) so I might be saved from myself.

The fish tank needs a clean and there is (always) more washing and dishwashing to be done but, other than that, I plan on a lazy day!
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
