I am hoping that you have misunderstood, as this is very bad advice, please delete it as some newbies may believe it and blow their microwave up.Slimming World at target0 -
It does depend on the size of your potato, I tend to use smaller ones as I wont pay the price for baking potatoes I buy a 2.15kg bag and pick out the biggest for baking.
As a rule I microwave on high for 5mins, then get the oven gloves and give a quick squeeze to see if soft, if not pop back in for another 5 mins and try again, keep going til its soft enough.Slimming World at target0 -
DON'T wrap it in foil and put in a microwave, that is just STUPID advice.
You don't have to wrap it up at all, just pierce it a couple times all over, and put on a microwavable plate in the microwave for 10-12 mins, depending on size of potato.
I would wrap mine up in kitchen paper though, but that's not a rule.
The rule is NEVER put tin foil or anything like it in a microwave!Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
I tend to make a couple of holes in (using a fork usually) and then pop in on full for 5mins, test like meg72 and then do an extra 5mins and if still not done I drop to 2mins each time.
If you like them a little crispier I have also done them til almost done in the microwave and then popped in the over for 10-15minutes on 180DC!!Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Stab the potato all over with a fork so it doesn't go BOOM! (chances are it won't anyway but still...)
Put in microwave and cook on full power for about 5 mins. Check it. If it's cooked, it'll be soft when squeezed, if it still feels firm then wang back in for another 5 mins (I turn mine over). It should then be ready unless it's a whopper; then it'll need another few mins.
It won't have a crispy skin and it'll be slightly hotter than the surface of the sun if you eat it straight away so leave it for a few mins before trying it.
Oh and don't wrap it in foil.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0 -

I fork mine several times, microwave for 5 mins, turn over, 5 mins on the other side, then I cheat and put it in a hot oven for 20 mins because I love a crispy skinAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
