Pup is an English Bull Terrier/ Staffie cross.....his hair is quite short as in not being a fluffy collie!:p He has quite long legs so won't be short either.
I'm so very tempted to get him an oilskin & sou'wester he hates the rain so much, but those coats on the equestrian site look the biz.
The offspring are pretty keen on the hoodies too but I think that's more for them than the poor pup...do they do matching owner's size?:rotfl: :rotfl:

well my chihuahua wears a coat in the winter they are a breed known for having little body fat- she is already starting to feel the cold on our evening walk, and the cold weather isnt even here yet - i dont think there is anything wrong with putting functional clothes on a dog (btw im not a PH wannabe) and i dont put clothes any other time
 Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame.:j
  • My CKCS has always worn a coat in wet/very cold weather because of his long hair. He now has arthritis in his joints so I make sure he is wrapped up warm. I know they have a fur coat, etc but just because I have long hair doesnt mean I dont wear a hat in winter and I dont think it should be any different for my dog.

No. A few million years of evolution have pretty much got the whole 'fur' thing sorted. :P

But evolution hasn't caught up with centrally heated houses!

I've started thinking about this, but don't think bf would let me put a coat on our dog! Maybe he should think about her rather than himself, hmm.

We have a 10 month old staff and as chunky as she is, she has short fur, so I wondered if it would be a good idea.

Not quite sure what to go for though, she doesn't like the rain, so I guess waterproof would be good.

I have seen those hoodie type coats for dogs (staffs especially), but I figured they were just fashion things as what does a dog need a hood for?

I tried a coat on my english bull terrier as she kept hiding behind trees when it rained, but she doesn't want to know - freezes to the spot and refuses to shift until it comes off.
She's a heat seeking missile indoors, but isn't bothered by the cold when out, and loves the snow, so I'm going with evolution knowingwhat it's doing.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I've just bought one for my dog, he's a GSD x collie, short haired and quite skinny. It's will be mainly used when waiting outside in the rain outside school in winter, probably won't bother on running around walks. Just a plain waterproof one in navy blue.
