    How about going by train?

Provided you are small enough to be able to get through the doors, of course.
  • The health of an expectant mother, and that of the unborn child are the only issues to be considered.

I wouldn't want my wife, daughter or sister etc. even contemplating flying in these circumstances.
  • What would you be worried about, NoodleDoodleMan? Assuming all's going as expected etc.

Most women are able to get on with their lives pretty much as normal at 35 weeks pregnant (some have niggles like shortness of breath, cramps etc.) I wouldn't fly long haul because I wouldn't want to be that far from home, but a flight to Sweden is what, 2 hours? I did a 6 hour train ride at that gestation, no problem at all.

Going into spontaneous labour at 35 weeks is really quite unlikely, and even if the OP did and the baby was coming really quickly there'd be people on hand to help.

OP - most travel insurers won't cover you past 28 weeks pregnant, but some will - I seem to remember StaySure are worth looking at. I'm not sure they cover situations like that.

It looks like this is another non returning member, ask a question and not come back to see the responses. I always think it is a shame that we never get updated as to whether any of the advice was useful or not.

  • Did I read somewhere recently that an airline refused to let a pregnant passenger travel even with a doctor's note?
I would imagine having to divert a plane full of passengers because of an early birth would cost many thousands of pounds?

If it was me I would not travel.

A touch of uncertainty there and the OP has already found out that they need a doctor's note at 35 weeks.

Assumptions are the mother of all screwups !!!
  • Assumptions are the mother of all screwups !!!

Well if all wasn't going well then clearly it wouldn't be advisable, I'm sure the OP knows that...
  • According to 'er indoors, and other female relations/friends, it's not much fun being in late stage pregnancy - and not being able to have a drink.

So flying in those circumstances appears, to me at least, not something to do, unless the journey is really necessary.

    Other opinions obviously differ.
