Travel insurance for being unable to fly in late pregnancy

I am planning on going to Sweden for a wedding in February 2018 at which point I will be 35 weeks pregnant.
To ensure that I can get tickets, I need to book the flights now but the tickets are non-refundable. To be able to fly at that stage in my pregnancy, I will need the doctor to sign me off as fit to fly. There is a risk, albeit small, that the doctor may not allow me to fly in which case I will be out of pocket for the flights. It has been suggested to me that I could get travel insurance to cover the cost of the tickets in the event that I am unable to fly, however I am struggling to find an insurer that will cover this particular circumstance.
Has anyone come across this and are able to recommend an insurer that may be able to assist?
Thanks

Unlikely - other than cost why not buy changeable/refundable tickets ?0

I agree, insurance is very unlikely, your options are either to take a chance that you'll be OK to fly or buy refundable tickets in case you can't.0

It's unlikely that insurance would cover you unfortunately as pregnancy would be classed as a pre existing condition and you would need. To declare it when buying your insurance.
I would also consider other risks such as early labour when in Sweden or finding yourself stranded due to air strikes, ash clouds or any other matter of unforseen circumstances. Should you be stranded and end up in your 36th week then some airlines wouldn't bring you back.Lea

I'm sure there's a cut off of around 29 weeks with some airlines or something. I'm sure I read or watched it once.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

A touch of uncertainty there and the OP has already found out that they need a doctor's note at 35 weeks.dawyldthing wrote: »I'm sure (I think) there's a cut off of around 29 weeks (or some other number) with some (not all, but who knows how many) airlines or something (or something quite different). Did I read somewhere recently that an airline refused to let a pregnant passenger travel even with a doctor's note?
I would imagine having to divert a plane full of passengers because of an early birth would cost many thousands of pounds?
If it was me I would not travel.0 -
The other thing to consider is whether you would want to travel. By 36 weeks I was fat , uncomfortable, my back hurt and I needed the loo every 20 minutes. If someone had suggested I squash myself into a small airline seat and sit entirely still for 2 hours I probably would have hit them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's a quick flight. I was still working at 38 weeks, walking up a hill down to the train station, taking a train before getting on the underground (and changing) before another 10 minutes walk to work every day and managed fine although clearly quite tired.
OP, it must be a wedding that means a lot to you, so hopefully it will go well but yes, refundable ticket or hoping there is still place and costs doesn't go up significantly waiting until a week or so before.0 -
Pick your airline to see the policy

Surely you'd be making millions from telling your story as to how you got pregnant.0
