if i can give you all a tip, get those reuseable plastic takeaway trays (pack of 10 from poundland) asda also sell them or the foil takeaway trays or you may have some in the house from takeaways. then start either making double or freezing your leftovers. you will be less likely to send out for a takeaway if you have a home made version you can reheat in micro/ pot or oven. we have got a fab hot and spicy chinese curry sauce concentrate from a thai food shop and this has curbed my takeaway craving. asda create your own pizzas are fab and excellent value.

My problem is not so much takeaways, but "laziness" for lunches at work.

So today I am pleased to report that I have made a cheese salad to take with me, which I am hoping will stop me from buying a jacket potato from the canteen.

    Have a good day/week everyone x

  • Maybe not the the same thing, but the best advice someone gave me was to 'plan' lunches. (I wanted to be sure my son was getting some veg) I plan at the weekend and do the shopping, It takes a bit of the stress away from making lunches and makes me less likely just to send son off with a ham sandwich!

    Can I join?

I have a problem with lunches (actually I couldn't be bothered today so will need to buy lunch... bad Lucy) and weekend take aways.

I'm hoping that now the rugby world cup is finished OH and I will spend more time cooking at home rather than getting takeaway's at the rugby club.

Planning lunches sounds like a good idea. I'm on a diet so need to be careful what I eat. I just need to sit and work it all out.

Morning all - Lucy; the quickest easiest lunch I do is:-

    1 pack pitta breads
one tub low fat hoummous = 3 lunches of two toasted pitta breads & hoummous (if you have a toaster at work) or 2 lunches of 3 toasted pitta breads!

I buy 5 bananas, a six pack of crisps, 6 small cartons of oranges or apple juice and something like vscount biscuits as part of teh weekend shop and it works well. I do also make sandwiches, soups or salads but the pitta breads don't need any preperation.

My weakness is driving home and thinking can't be bothered to cook whatever is planned and driving past a MacDonalds, a KFC and fish and chip shops. So I now prepare the evening meal the night before and it doesn't seem too much of a chore then.

    Thanks

I'm normally ok if I get into the routine of making lunch the night before. Unfortunately I only have access to a fridge at work, so I need stuff that can be eaten cold.

I sometime bring in pasta and things like that, I just need to think about it first.

But I do have some cans of diet pepsi with me (buy 6 pack get 6 pack free) which means I shouldn't be buying and diet coke for a while. But I will make lunch tonight for tomorrow.

Oh dear - it is so much harder if you don't have a microwave/kettle etc - especially now it is getting colder. I wish you luck and determination.

I think I may need to invest in a thermos flask or something similar. Hopefully once I get organised I'll be fine and it will fit into the routine. Will get OH on board to and actually plan weekend eating!

Just thought I would let everyone know that today I have brought my own packed lunch to work and not bought any other food!

Ok I made lunch quickly this morning and will try to be a bit more organised tonight. But it's a good start.
