it's definatly on their website..I went through their website to book my place for my family..I didn't give my bank details as I don't need up to £25 to cover any transport fees....So you don't have to give them any bank details if you don't want to..You get your lunch free anyway....It's not a scam it's on their website

So its just going and coming back. free lunch! but can I get the £25 what is it for? Travel expenses to get to the train coz I got a travelcard but wouldnt mind the 25
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"

If you read it not all passenegers will not necessarily be going to France on the test day. They will be testing the process (but would still need passport etc.) at the stations and getting a nice train journey round the station. They will however get expenses and an eventual free trip to France.

  • It looks fairly cosher, but I'm afraid I wouldn't hand over my bank details in any shape or form like this.
Have you never paid for anything with a cheque then? All of this information is openly available on every single cheque you have ever written.

You can claim up to £25 for travel expenses...I don't need to claim any either as I have a travel card type thing...Fill the details in if you want and find out on the day if you can claim for anything then...I am sure the free return eurostar ticket will be a better bonus than trying to claim £25 in the end..it's up to you what you want to do really:j

I know it's not very often now, but everytime you write a cheque you give whoever receives it a lot more information about your banking details than they get from just giving your sort code and account number. In addition to the previous, there is the company you bank with, probably your branch details, the account name and maybe more.

Also everytime you give your debit or credit card details to anyone they have access to all that information anyway.

Perhaps I'm being a bit dense but exactly how could anyone scam your bank account with just the basic account number and sort code details?

What you should never do is reveal to anyone, even your bank, any passwords or complete passcode numbers or PIN codes, etc. They will NEVER, if genuine, ask you for that information. Additionally the csc number on the reverse of the cards should only ever be given when making a payment through a secure website or by phone to a trusted supplier/company.
  • Well folks. MY hubbie and I signed up for this last night nd got an email confirmation from Eurostar straoight away with details. They've set up an account so we can check the itinarary directly on the eurostar website. This offer is geniune. So quit panicing people or you'll miss out with all this dithering! :D
  • To anyone who has signed up:
I dont know my friends passport number yet. Is it possible to put in a fake number, then go back and fill in the correct number later?
    Thanks
  • I worked for Eurostar when it first started and we had several of these days back then and when they opened the station at Ashford.

This is all perfectly legit, although you need your passport YOU WILL NOT BE GOING TO FRANCE or BELGIUM.

The purpose of this day/s is to ensure that all works well within the terminals at both St Panc and Ebbsfleet.
From collecting tickets, checking in, boarding the train and arriving through immigration etc.

As with any international journey arriving and departing passengers are not allowed to be in the same area at the same time.
These test days are to ensure everything works as it should and helps with staff training etc, etc.

There could be quite a bit of sitting around either on a train just outside the station or within the departure lounge but you will get refreshments, lunch, up to £25 in travel expenses back and a voucher for a trip to Paris, Brussels or Lille.

If you have the time to spare then take part.

PS If you are wondering how so many people can get on these test trains, each Eurostar can carry 700+ passengers, that is why there are still bookings available.
