I've changed DM's doctors appointment for her, arranged the heating engineer to visit her and put on a washing load.

Could you pass on the number of your heating engineer Gers? I would love one who would put my washing on too :rotfl::rotfl::D

There's a fine line between being affable and a doormat. Not saying your a doormat Lamewolf but hopefully you know what I mean. I'd like to get the balance right.
There are days when I wonder if I have "Welcome" tattooed across my forehead! Unfortunately, my father and my ex-husband were both violent men, and would get extremely stroppy if they didn't get their way, so I had 42 years of learning to keep my head down and just do as I was told before I moved in with Mr LW; and it's hard to break that kind of conditioning.

Holly Hoppy Birdday - have a lovely day.

Redruby GWS wishes; that sounds absolutely horrible.

    Afternoon all,

Cold here today and still overcast, washing will go on airers again.

My turn to cook dinner tonight.......chicken, ratatouille and steamed spuds.

Made a lovely chocolate cake yesterday, think I got the recipe online, very easy, ground almonds instead of flour, so suitable for coeliacs.

Sorry to hear that you have a tummy bug Ruby, get well soon.

Holly.....happy birthday, have a good one.

Cranky.......so sorry to hear that your leg injury is taking so long to heal.....you need to rest as much as possible.

Hugs to everyone who could do with one for whatever reason.

Bit late today but went to town this morning to go into the bank. Then went to a few shops for some Christmas pressies, family cards and DD's birthday card. Called in Mat*lan and got myself a pair of slippers, I've already gone through 2 pairs this year and also got a new belt as I've " lost " my other one. Town was manic and there were long queues in every shop, I get panicky when it gets very busy :(. I wanted to go to B&M too ( get things over and done with IYSWIM ) but Mr Fix It was not a happy bunny today ( not like him, he's usually happy-go-lucky ) so came home instead. Don't know what had rattled his cage and told him so ! He's fine now, I think it's the bl00dy medication he's on . So will go to B&M another day.
Dads heating engineer called round and there is something wrong with the wall thermostat, so he has given dad a remote to carry round the house. Oh joy ! he can't find his own head half the time so I wonder how long it will be before he loses that remote too .

Tea today will be leftover beef casserole from the freezer, with chunks of fresh bread and then the last of the trifle from yesterday.
Got an early start tomorrow as Mr Fix It has a diabetic clinic appointment, so that's at least an hour in the waiting room. I will take my book but usually we meet someone we know to chat to :).
HollyH wishing you many happy returns of the day and I hope you enjoyed yourself. :bdaycake:
RedRuby I hope your tummy gets back to normal very quickly, hugs from a distance :rotfl:.
Cranky sending you healing thoughts. You seem to be going through the wringer lately.
Snoozer just had to watch your DD on the TV. You must be very proud, she's lovely !
Special hugs to those of you finding things tough at the moment.

  • Afternoon all. It's hardly been daylight today after the early sun and it's coming dark for night already. It's been flippin' cold too. The lunchtime local weatherman said there was word there had been snow/sleet up in Masham! Eeek!

Well my wardrobe has been tidied out and pruned as planned. Lots of bags and shoes in the charity bag, along with a few tops and trousers. Mr Ragamuffin's is as it was!! He went in a strop and said he liked everything and didn't want to part with any of it!! If he likes everything then why doesn't he wear everything instead of raking out the same ancient stuff!! I give up!

Instead I sorted out my Xmas pressies, gift bags, wrapping paper etc. and took stock of what and who I still need to buy for. The list will accompany me everywhere I go!

REDRUBY I hope your sicky bug soon passes and CRANKY I hope the doctor's appointment helped. HOLLY enjoy your cake! KARCHER ((HUGS)). Take care all and have a nice evening xx

Received my first Christmas present today! A lovely duvet set with thistles on. It'll look great but I won't use it before Christmas.

DM has reported that the electric blanket is a success, she was all over toasty last night -thank goodness. I had mine on last night for over an hour as I was really cold.

Tonight I'll be having a really early night, I have to be at the ferry terminal for 6.30a.m and it's about 40 minutes away. I'm going across to Islay to do some face-to-face teaching with my group - a three hour ferry journey each way. Keep your fingers crossed for no high winds. I may just have time to visit one or two of the distilleries on the way back to the ferry. Strangely, the ferry going out leaves from a different place from the ferry coming in!

TA - my DM declares every week that she has nothing to wear, despite there being three wardrobes, two chest of drawers, a wall cupboard and a large dresser all being full!

Busy day today. I got up first which is most unusual. so DH got coffee in bed. downstairs I unloaded the dishwasher and put a wash on and washed up a few plates and glasses from last night. Steak went in the slow cooker for steak and mushroom pie tonight.

We went to the Mall at Cribbs Causeway to collect a winter coat for DGS. We came home and I put a lamb tagine on the cooker for tomorrow. DD works all day Tuesday so I often cook Monday for Tuesday and take some down when we drop DGS home. She can then just heat it up. DGS 3 loves lamb tagine. They are doing well as they had a roast dinner with us yesterday and DD took some chicken home for dinner tonight. I remember when my kids were small a meal with my parents helped the housekeeping budget out.

Happy birthday to Holly. hope you had a lovely day.

Well have a warm, peaceful evening folks.
