O/S Daily Monday 13th November 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 and DS2 still in their pits. DS1 and his mates decided that the entertainment last night wasn't great and as they had to be out of the accommodation by 10am and off site by 11am this morning they came home last night, he got in at approx 5pm, he had a good time by the sounds of it. He has a days' holiday today so I'll leave him to have a lie-in. DS2 has college so he will need to get up and organised.
Lunch yesterday wasn't roast chicken, mash and veg, we had a change of idea and I did HM egg fried rice and mushrooms with the roast chicken. Menfolk all had bacon sandwiches for a snack at teatime. Tonight hairdresser is coming over so it'll be fish, chips, beans/veg - everyone will be having chips as DS1 bought the chips back from being away as they all took some food and had way too much so bought back what they had provided that hadn't been eaten.
Back to work this morning for me, expecting it to be busy - so we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Cold this morning, I'm just going out to scrape the car before I go for a swim.
Had a lovely day yesterday visiting the Falkirk Wheel (Not working at the moment) then on to the Kelpies and then something to eat at the Big Feed, curry and a chocolate brownie to finish. The weather was beautiful but really cold.
Hope you all had a good weekend, hugs to those in need. Take care. XX0 -
Morning nmlc and those to follow.
Still dark here but the weatherman says it will be dry and cloudy throughout the day so may risk hanging the washing outside.
I'm not working today as worked Saturday and plan to give the kitchen a proper clean.
Other than that, nothing of huge interest going on here. Whole house stinks of cooking so I'll probably spend some time on useless pong removal.
I need some breakfast, and another vat of tea.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone.
It was so cold yesterday! Could be that way all week.
I went to bed really early and slept all the way through until five minutes ago. My plan is today go into the ‘office’ to do some work as it’s warm there.
Happy Monday to all.0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Dumpling I’m glad that you had a good visit with Becky. Hopefully she will be able to come home for a night at the weekend.
After not sleeping yesterday I fell asleep on the sofa for most of the afternoon and didn’t get anything done all day. I was just too tired to do anything.
Today I’m meeting my sister in law for lunch in the town. She has told me that I can choose where we go as it is my birthday. I will decide when I meet her where to go, At least most places in town are fairly quiet on a Monday.
I’ve decided that I’ve got a good excuse not to do anything around the house today. I intend to spend the evening on the sofa with a good book and some cake. The housework will still be there tomorrow.
Hugs to everyone who is unwell or struggling at the moment.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing0 -
Happy Birthday Hollyharvey :bdaycake:
Awake since 4am, shattered again.
Have a good day everyone x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Happy Birthday to HOLLY, have a lovely meal out and a lazy evening on the sofa with a huge slice of cake.
It's a cold start here and forecast to remain so all day, with early sun then cloud. I also heard the S word mentioned for the Pennines but hopefully it will not spread as far as us!
I have decided today is the day I am going to attack our wardrobes with a vengeance. I keep clothes "just in case" and they never see the light of day so time to be ruthless, charity bags at the ready, Once I have done mine I shall start on Mr Ragamuffin's and the clothes that Noah wore are going. He has nice new clothes that have been bought for him but he persists in wearing the ancient stuff.
I'll get some soup out to defrost for lunch with a sarnie of some sort (probably bacon) and tonight I think I shall do Pasta Carbonara for a change.
Have a good day folks and I hope the sleepless ones had a better night. I did thankfully. ((HUGS)) to all who want/need them and take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Happy Birthday Hollyharvey :bdaycake:If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0

Happy Birthday Hollyharvey
Fingers crossed that the s word doesn't appear TA. That's a bit early even for the Pennines....
Another with a sleepless night here but I have a doctors appointment at 9am. I want him to do something about the allergies that are affecting my skin and give me some steroids to calm the current lot down a bit. The pressure bandages went on my leg on Thursday and the district nurse had to come out and take them off on Saturday as I was very allergic to them.
Karcher just hugs. Lots of hugs.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
First of all, a Very Happy Birthday to Hollyharvey, hope you have an amazing day and get to eat lots of cake xxx
Brrrr, it's very cold here this morning but not as bad as some parts of the country where snow has been reported already . My grandson is desperate for it to snow here as he has never been able to play out in it and he is 6. Thankfully we rarely get any of the white stuff as I loathe it. Steve thinks it is my sheer force of will that keeps it away :rotfl:.
Awww Cranky, you are not having any luck are you. I hope the doctors appointment will help you. Sending you a big hug xx
TravellingAbuela, you have inspired me to make a start on my wardrobe as well. There are bags and bags of clothes just shoved in there so I will have a good sort out and maybe discover some 'treasures' while I am at it. Steve is the same as your hubby and wears his old comfy/scruffy clothes whilst leaving the nice stuff hanging up for 'best'.
I am going to be cooking a chilli and an indian style cottage pie for the next couple of days meals. I also have a couple of loads of washing to do as the girls took over the machine yesterday. I am not expecting any visitors today either so I will just crack on with stuff and then spend a lovely afternoon with a film and my knitting.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -

Happy Birthday Hollyharvey :bdaycake:
I've been busy doing nothing for the past few days. I've kept moving and doing things but don't seem to have achieved much, lol. I need to make sure I don't start drifting along again, I'm very good at falling back into bad habits
I have work this morning then I need to de-fur the house. It seems worse lately but that's probably just because he's spending more time indoors, he really doesn't like cold weatherI'm waiting for the last person to get out of the shower then I'll put the washing on. Might crochet later this afternoon if I've finished all the other jobs.
