Am I entitled?

It's been 6 years since I did this, and was a long process, but more straightforward, and I won.

This time, flying from uk to the USA (unlike last time), via a budget Eu Carrier. Delayed 4 hours on the way back and just over 2 hours on the way there. On the way back provided with meal vouchers.

Some passenger on the flight made an announcement to us all while waiting for luggage that we should go to a certain website and write in as we are entitled to 500-600 dollars as it was a 3hr plus delay.

How am I covered with the USA? I paid via credit card.

You should get €600 equivalent for a four hour delay. Claim directly from the airline. Google EU261 for more details. Lots of info about this.

Sorry, no claim, your delay would have to be 3 hours or more.

have a look at the NWNF checkers on EUclaim and bottonline, put your flight details in and see if they agree with the airline's view

Yes, quote the EC261 regulations and request the appropriate compensation.

If your arrival time was less then 4 hours, but more than 3 hours, they can halve the amount of compensation to €300 per passenger. Departure times are irrelevant. If they can prove the delay was due to an extraordinary circumstance (EC) you will not be due any compensation.

If they claim it was due to an EC they must also explain the details to you. When they don't, it's usually because it is not an EC and they are just trying to circumvent the law.
