Hang Seng within reach of 30,000:eek:Quite remarkable, quite unexplained.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

Well no crash today on the 20th anniversary of black wednesday.
I closed my short on the much overvalued mastercard and cut over 2K from a weeklong drop, I think itll prob bounce at 150 as its slowed down
was hoping it wouldnt slow till 120.
I dont follow the hang seng so I have no idea how overvalued it is. Yank stocks are as fat as the yanks, but our ftse 250 is looking a bit lardy too.
Only chinese company im in at the moment is CGM and thats AIM listed.0 -
^well done to you, good timing

Yep a bit of luck involved too, just so happened a director dumped his shares so everyone else must have started shorts too. Was a stupidly lardy stock though (and still is).
I think i might start a short on china mobile, 330billion my ar**0 -
^Dow looking unhealthy this afternoon (PPT has not kicked in yet). Profit warnings, layoffs and potential for further losses from BofA et al. Have no fear: Fed will come to the rescue in two weeks - maybe sooner

Very tall stack of cards comes to mind, fed will cut rates, but sticky tape aint gonna hold water, at least it mints gold and oil through inflation good for those stocks, bad for most others.
Also its nice to see that instead of how to become a millionaire by losing 15K developing property tv progs are being replaced by the markets going to crash and burn tv shows.
Saw one the other night (IIRC was called the truth behind the property boom) where there was a american bank offering uk subprime mortgages and one person (unemployed) took them for 19million to buy uk propertys to rent out. They bought them at 75% of value through a leafleting campaign and despite the cheaper prices still went bankrupt. Goes to show how bad the bubble is. Speaking as a first time buyer, i will have lost a bit through buying at the wrong time, but I dont care i can afford too
, its the ones that cant or have deluded themselfs into highly geared ventures that will lose luckily well all have to bail them out through bankrupcy, arnt we so kind. 0 -
^might have been the same show on BBC2 yesterday (8pm)?? Dow now losing ground quite rapidly (-260). Yes, the tide has turned within a matter of days actually; witness the front piece of The Times this morning. Game over?? maybe the ftse will show resilience and rise +200 Monday morning! in any case, it will take its cue from the asian markets i suspect...and those commodities (mining shares) are STILL rampant!
edit: -366 the Dow. A Sea of Red. You never know: the Hang Seng might still reach 30,000.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

I think its a good time to open a few shorts just in case then, odds are you will either loose a bit or win a lot (win-a-lot aint that a dog food lol).
Yep I have a fair few stakes in goldmining (and others) companies that are starting production now or in the next year (CGM, MCR etc). But a lot of other people are now getting wise to the trend too. I think because BRICs geting rich well need to be pumping a lot more fuel, copper, gold etc.
Certainly a more interesting time then it has been for a while. I know the dollar has never been so cheap and has broke its resistance level.0 -
Someone else is thinking doom...
