Double flight booking

Hi,
My mother booked a flight on opodo last week, but due to a computer error where the webpage refreshed, she was charged for two flight bookings. It gets pretty strange here - on her credit card statement, it shows two identical flight bookings a few minutes apart, however they were charged differently. On her statement this is how it appears:
flight - £412 - paid to airline
seats booked - £30 - paid to opodo
flight - £420 - paid to opodo
My mum said she did book seats, and the 412 + 30 price was the ticket she booked.
Opodo are refusing to refund, saying she has to pay a £130 penalty to cancel the ticket. They say she must of booked two tickets separately - which doesn't make sense because of the weird charges to opodo and the airline.
What is the best course of action here? I'm pretty confident she should be getting a full refund.

Complain. Take them to court if your complaint fails.0 -
Can she evidence/ duplicate the error? Did she get two booking confirmations?
I'd agree with never using Opodo again, but your chances in court do depend on what can be proven.0 -
Surely if it is a duplicate booking , same name same date same flight it will be obvious even to Opodo?
I would contact your credit card company with a view to raise a disputed charge.0 -
If the flight times and dates are the same and the booking time was the same, I can't see why they would not cancel it as obviously you wouldn't book the same seat twice for the same person on the same date.

Some, if not all online booking sites have a warning before clicking the payment tab, something along the lines of:
"do not refresh the page or hit the back button as this can result in payment being taken twice"
Is it possible that this is what your mother did? and the difference in prices is due to the fare changing between the time the 2 payment were actually taken?0
