Scottish power are cheaper for both rates and a cheaper daily standing charge.

The Scottish Power tariff was a one year fix, so I'm now switching before it ends and I'm moved on to the standard variable tariff.

I'm with SP and a very cheap and satisfied 5 years [2 and a 3 year deal], many of their cheap night store tariffs are ending and they all have one heck of a leap in costs.

That Night Owl Tariff is looking good. I ran last 12 month extravagant 20+℃ day / night cycle at - Whole Year Cost Check on 16th August 2017 :

- Day 2,455 kWh ∴ 41.87% Day
- Night 5,864 kWh ∴ 58.13% Night
- Total-pa 8,319 kWh

So the Ebico Night Owl Tariff is a good contender for an every 12 month recommittal term.

An afterthought..... care swapping to Ebico if you are WHD recipient, that £190.48 ex VAT is a heck of a loss.

My 12 month fix with Scottish Power ends on 31st March. Moving forward, Ebico's Night Owl tariff is now looking very attractive.

Between 1st April and 4th October last year my night time usage averaged at 59% so I don't foresee any problems there. My night usage between 4th October and 1st Jan this year averaged at 73%, which obviously falls outside their 60% limit.

Ignoring for a minute the fair use policy for this tariff; based on a full year's usage, Night Owl would cost me £593, compared to the cheapest variable tariff with Utilita at £803 and the cheapest 12 month fixed tariff with Economy Energy at £854. Based on reviews, I don't want to use either of these two suppliers!

Ebico have advised me that they will review the account with each quarterly bill, so I am going to chance it! At worst I'll get six months with them, hopefully nine months, but who knows, if 73% night usage during the first three months of next winter doesn't get me booted off, I may well get the full twelve months on this tariff. Judging by the extortionate price of electricity at the moment I've got nothing to lose.
