I was so amazed WD40 could do all this (always thought it was a grease!) so I had a google and found this:

    Loving this thread :D

WD40 also unsticks your fingers when you manage to superglue them together!!! Believe me, I tried loads of suggestions before someone told me to try WD40......... what a relief!

Or don't peel them at all, i acually read that on here a long time ago and wasn't keen but acually aslong as you give them a scrub there fine, and there no waste other than the ends :)

That's probably ok on baby carrots, but I find the skin on older carrots tastes unpleasant so I always peel mine.

How do you all stop your carrots going floppy ?

Is that before or after cooking? I find sometimes if I've left them too long they go all floppy before I cook them, but I've started to keep them in the fridge now. I don't get floppy cooked carrots.

To remove strong smells from jar lids, wash with a blob of toothpaste!

I wanted to reuse some jars with my vacuum sealer but a lot of the lids were from curry jars etc, I couldn't get rid of the smell on them.

I found the tip on Pinterest and tried it on a sweet and sour jar lid, it has taken away the strong smell.

I have tried lots of other things, vinegar, bicarb of soda etc etc and nothing has worked until now.

It does smell of Colgate but that will wash off.

    ;)

For me, i think its the fact that i boil the full kettle once in the morning to make my morning cuppa, then pour the rest in a flask. It normally needs refilling about 3pm.

This means i dont have to boil the kettle multiple times a day..and my little energy meter checker gadget says that boiling the kettle uses a LOT of evergy. Not only that, but i reuse the same mug all day too, to save on washing up.

What are the little frugal/MS things that you do?

    Similar to you, WantToBeSE.

If I just want one cup, I'll only fill my kettle with one cupful of water! Why boil what I don't need?

Upcycle and re-purpose clothes. it's amazing how often a too big, too small, too out of date item, turns into something really stylish.

Gibson, what do you mean by upcycle?

Another thing i do is, when i have finished cooking dinner in the oven and have turned the oven off, i leave the oven door open. I have a tiny house, and the heat leaves the oven and spreads through the kitchen and all downstairs. Takes the chill off a tad, if you dont want to put the heating on :)

Too many grills and vents letting in cold air...the kitchen is cold and an electric oven doesn't give much heat off...and it would only go straight into the kitchen and out of the grills...and originally(and nothing has changed)the kitchen was lovely and warm...as soon as possible I am out of that room and the door is closed. Otherwise the rest of the house downstairs would be even colder...

I do all what you suggest regarding hot drinks...either use flasks or boil only what is needed.
