So the big adventure of Parents journeying up next Sunday to view The House on Monday.
Lovely disabled room in the hotel. Sisters driving down Saturday to help Mum drive up. Front passenger seat now fitted so the whole seat turns to allow Dad to sit in the front of car instead of being wheelchair bound in the back & getting car sick
Oh & Fourp managed to get front row seats for Count Arthur Strong next year :j
fingers crossed it all goes well - we are all rooting for them“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Morning all. Not so sunny today but looking forward to hitting the shops , then the distillery, and afternoon tea. Will try to fit in a swim and sauna before the distillery.
Room ok the food and staff are brilliant. Groupon was misleading. Evening meal is only on one night. Normally it’s reported in headline print not small print on second page. Still good value. We will eat out tonight or just have a bowl of soup. No point in stressing the small stuff I have freebies to look for.
Enjoy your day.
I think after the afternoon tea you really wont want anything to eat for about 12 hours anyway - well possibly some of the cake you will bring back
Sometimes in hotels if we have been out all day and too kna***ed to eat out at night we go on the way back to Marks or similar and get things for an in room picnic - salad bowl, some nice sliced ham, some nice bread rolls and a dessert like the mini tiramisus and a bottle of wine - bath, pjs, film and hotel room picnic :T“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
It is lovely that our new home has brought back familiar names and faces :j :j
Coz we have missed you all
Yes, I've seen a few old timers surfacing - some blasts from the past - one name I've not seen for about 4 years“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Can I ask if the Nivea sensitive gents moisturiser on cos which has £2 c/b in T’s. should match to Morries at £3. So £1 net. If it has been been reported as working can you give me a shout. Otherwise I will try when I find a larger Tesco or get home Tia0

Morning all
Has anyone got a Nationwide select credit card?
When you get your statement this month don't just hurl the accompanying leaflet straight into the recycling box, read it.
This card is a cashback card and it had 0.5% cashback - this accumulates through the year and it then comes off the December bill. At one time I was getting about £60 a year but this year its down to £40 - general cutting of spending and diversification. Next year its going to be £20.
My average spend is about £800 a month - its not supposed to be this much as its for household spends (groceries, cat food, house and garden, petrol, eating out, clothes) but then every month there is either a coal bill, garage bill, hotel bill, holiday spends, Christmas/birthday spends or something extra has to be paid ...:(
So now I am having a big think about credit cards to see if any of my other almost dormant cards should be the main card if the incentives are better ...
I use amex intro offers, generally spend 2k in the first 3 months to get £100 or £100 worth of points back (plus a bit via quidco/referral).
All cards are 6 months closure gap before reapply and qualify for new customer offer so the points cards (gold membership rewards and nectar) can be done every approx 10 months.
Platinum cashback only pays after 12 months and thus is 19 months between applications. However if you have a partner then you can take it in turns to be the main and supplementary card holders so effectively can be a new customer 6 times in every 18ish months and thus get 5% cashback all the time.
You also then get access to all the card holder offers like small shop (£5 of £10 in thousands of independent retailers each December) and other conditional spend offers that are often quite generous.I think....0 -
Sweet Sundays query please?
Just found my 2 codes and it states use any Sun before the 12th Nov!
Will they be valid this Sun or have I missed out.......
Tia.
Word on HUKD is that you just need to book by the 12th but can use them on any film (on a Sunday) where release dates and show times are already on the website - this seems to include a lot of xmas movies, we are probably going to go for Pitch Perfect 3 on xmas eve - the DDs will love it, DS will be less than amused.I think....0 -
Just a reminder for everyone about the Asda Christmas Gift Card bonus day. This Sunday is the deadline for topping up your cards to get the bonus.
https://cards.asda.com/card/ChristmasSaving
If you put on the full £144, the bonus equates to a 4.2% return - better than any bank account at the moment !
Of all the gift cards, I feel Asda is quite safe as they are owned by Walmart, and the cards are valid for 2 years from last use, including balance checks.0 -
Good afternoon as we all like a bargain can I recommend not buying the selection boxs for Christmas from next

Christmas question of the day......do we have Yorkshire puddings on our Christmas dinner or not........discuss:D
No, just with beef. Only beef.
And as for cauliflower cheese and leeks in white sauce, no no no.
These are best served as stand-alone dishes - or with gammon - at a separate occasion.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
Do we discuss best yielding Sainsburys to CEX products on this thread to extract cash during the double up?I think....0
