I've been counting up my pennies since bubbs mentioned the sealed pot thing.

In the depths of winter when we were snowed in I made myself a £2 Christmas tree.

I now have £82 for Christmas meat and cheeses:T:T

I've been checking them to see if there's any rare ones among them but basically don't know what I'm looking for:o

I've also been emptying some other coin jars. I'm thinking of taking them to the machine in A that takes commission:o Does anyone know if you need to separate out the copper and silver before you use the machine?

If you still have a Metrobank account from when they did the sign up bonus their coin counting machines not only used to be free but also handed out small prizes.
No to pictures as I'm at work. No offence intended, but I don't share recipes anymore (long story but I had a really bad experience of sharing one).
The chilli and arsenic fairy cakes looked, smelled and tasted delicious but they didn't half give me wind :(

None of either type of toilet paper at our Ts

My bank will only accept 5 bags of change a day. With bags full of coppers in a bells bottle it would take a fortnight to get banked. Last lot of coppers I had I gave to my friend who was going to Blackpool and she gave them to her kids to use in the amusements.

Sometimes it's more hassle than it's worth to trek to the bank
 What, even if you are paying it into your account? Thats shocking, I would be having words.

Never seen a coin counting machine in a bank before, I want one, specially one that gives out prizes.

Yes, they're sods and I've tried in a few different branches too. I only take bags of £1 and £2 coins in there now  smaller shrapnel gets put in the self service machine at sainsburys

My son takes his change jar into lidl. He buys a cake and pours the whole lot in . The machine then gives him back "his change" in notes. Not done it myself yet.

I know HSBC (at least the one near us) has a coin counter that puts it into your account (have to be with them or FD though) and I have seen one in a Nat West too, might be worth checking if your bank has one? I think tbose machines charnge something lime 12%, the ones in the bank are free.

Some NatWests have coin machines as well - no need to sort them, just chuck the coins in & they total goes into your account - no need for different coins to total a full bag IYSWIM. Machines look similar to ordinary cashpoints, so you need to look, not just glance at them.

Most banks here also have the 5 bags of coins a day rule as well. They also insist that you pay bags of coins into your account & then withdraw the money rather than exchange (even if you prove you have an account with them).

This MSE article has got me giggling. :rotfl:

Academics are looking to interview yellow sticker shoppers. They are asking people to take pictures too, that did make me laugh, they obviously haven't followed this part of the forum. :D They have only been reading posts over on the Food and Shopping bit...

    Re: jars of loose change

Surely the best option is to pay at SS tills for your next lot of tuna/bog roll with the change? Just chuck it all in and let the machine do the work.

Can't remember the last time I handled cash - I'm a card type of gal (maximising cashback).

Also, you get Section 75 protection when you buy £100+ worth of bog roll and tuna. You never know...:rotfl:

Fully aware you don't get Section 75 protection on 36p bog roll and £1 tuna....
