Boo
No 75p Maltesers fun size left in my Wilko today, just one empty cardboard carton. Hope aau had better luck at his.
But I did get few of each of this little lot for our trick or treaters
Halloween coins 25p
Mini Cadbury goo heads 50p
5 pack Cadbury goo heads £1
8 pack Monster Mallows 50p
Barratts trick mix 50p
Would have liked a few more of the Barratts mix but there was only one pack left. Lots of the coins and goo heads though. I might keep the bigger Cadbury goo heads for us if they are just like crème eggs. Anyone know?
I thought I had messed up when I saw this "Trick Mix" at only 50p as I bought a bag of Barratts sweets for £1. However, I now think I did have Trick Mix available to me but looked on the shelf and picked the best option so I switched to a better alternative. I've therefore probably done better than you and really shouldn't be saying so. You know how I am:rotfl::T.
That was after looking at the £1 version of the Pick n Mix but deciding that the regular cup was still very small to me and I won't have as much in that as a bag of sweets that were at good value. I couldn't find the right Maltesers at first - boxes and cartons in what looked like a Christmas aisle but I came back out of those aisles and tried to find them elsewhere and it seemed they were in a seasonal aisle (in other words, season just gone) along with Hallowe'en-themed items.
Trick Mix at 50p (maybe it is a trick:rotfl:) seems to be 180g, but I found Barratts Booty Bag 400g for £1. Seems to be the same type of mix as the trick mix sweets - I've certainly got some Black Jack lollies, refreshers and Wham! bars in mine - could have bought this, if you had it in stock, instead of two trick mix bags and 40g more. I was originally going to have some 700g Marshmallows instead for my remaining £1 allowance (two funsize Maltesers for 75p each of course) but none of those inside the box on my store's shelf. Notionally I lost 300g but it doesn't quite work like this as those items are obviously simply lighter weight and hard to tell which would last longer.
My £2.50 has already gone to payout and it seems I'm spending in Tesco from quite soon as I have requested to convert to £2.58 Tesco egift card so 8p profit!:)
I later went to Sains. (to get my Bonus points put onto my card) and had a chuckle at some expensive Maltesers 166g pouch for £1.50:rotfl:! I think the Funsize of more gs than that but half the cost will be better for me as I can just give someone a funsize bag out of the pack to have so they won't consume a whole pouch in one sitting:T:T:T:T.:j:money: Those small pouches, called "Maltesers Large Chocolate Pouch", are so expensive compared to the Wilkos option! Of course there are even smaller pouches that are still more expensive than 75p:rotfl:.
There were some "Sale" items in my S - however none of them really worth mentioning as I would just be advertising things you weren't already going to buy. Of course as usual I have no stock of anything that said 20p and I didn't think whatever they were was much good anyway. Fwiw, there were some napkins for 15p that I didn't buy and some frozen items such as some Alpro Ice Cream 500ml. :eek:Still be quite dear as value ice creams are four times this:rotfl:.
In M earlier - just to check that they didn't have anymore more worthwhile than Wilkos - such as some Hallowe'en clearance items - it seems not quite yet. Just the non-sweets things on usual first clearance price, that will doubtless be half this later, and as for the Maltesers funsize packs - 3 for £4:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:! I found Scaremix was 50p in Wilkos but thought it was too low weight() when I could have 400g Booty Bag for £1. There was also a carton thing of slightly higher than this but no stock in my Wilkos so I'm happy with what I got. (For now:rotfl: - until I find anything better than I ought to have got:wall:!) I had no need for any more than two packs of Maltesers funsize as that is the right amount for me - would have to have found something, that was good, for 25p if I had bought three packs - I decided that was excessive - and was not going to spend any more than £2.50:money:.
There is a Mega Mix 1Kg tub in M at £3, so that could work out at 50p (or slightly less if you choose an option different to transfer to your bank account or Paypal) - however, why the need to end up paying anything over and 2x 400g Booty Bags would be 800g for £2 (and 1.2Kg for £3 that I'm not going to get, so they have more than the M tubs have). The what they call Super stars Variety Mix and Haribo Share what they call Fun are on 2 for £5 - shame they are not £2.50 straight and not able to get one only unless there is some pack on reduction anywhere.
I saw a few limited aisles in M, of sweets, chocs, the fruit & veg. that I walked past to get there plus the boxes of alcohol that were out on the ends (but not in the aisle itself) and I probably remember all of what I saw - I saw Carlsberg 18x440ml at £10 for example [checks online - yet again, see - I just remember it!:eek::T] - but I am so out of touch with what is on in M now and I do miss not having that information (as part of my own shopping and trying to buy from the best places) - we are missing something and each of us needs all the help we can get from hotukdeals, from this thread and from people looking out for things - but I just saw the few aisles I happened to pass and I didn't bother going to the frozen food aisles either so I have no idea if anything is good. Sains. have Quorn Sausages 12 pack on £1.50 still but seems so expensive now in the light of frozen 12 pack Pork Sausages (they were a lot higher weight too than the Quorn) that were available in M at 50p earlier (now BB date gone on those). I think I will be doing very well and, helped by the prices I have been used to paying before, will now be unlikely to be got into buying much of the stuff I see now - just seems so expensive!:rotfl: I feel this is a good way of saving money - means I'm unlikely to pick anything up on impulse as the normal prices seem so dear!:T Went in one place the other day - 12 pack Birds Eye Dippers for £2.10! Nestle Shreddies 425g for £2.30!:rotfl::rotfl: I just don't know how they think I will be buying either of those.
I don't know about the "Goo Heads" as I am unlikely to be caught into buying something like that. I've heard someone describe them as creme eggs though - or at least suggest they were equivalent to that (put creme eggs in brackets) - although remember the recipe for creme eggs got changed so some people don't think creme eggs are what they used to be anymore. I bet the different products are all much the same - maybe different flavour - as it's all about target marketing and making things look appealing to particular markets of consumers, so the wording is carefully chosen and reflects this. For MSE, it needs looking at the reality of what something is rather than the words used to be describe it. I bet those 5 pack Goo Heads are identical to Creme Eggs except they might use green colour rather than yellow (which effectively makes no difference, manufacturers just colour things to make them look nice or look as expected for the product type - peas, for example, are naturally really a horrible grey colour rather than green but they taste exactly the same). It's effectively the same as a normal off-season price of £1 for 5 creme Easter eggs (usually associated with Easter) - I'd keep them and you'll soon find out if they are like creme eggs when you come to use them. It's all about marketing and being able to make your products look different from others in order to charge more for them - or not being as appealing as the main brands, despite probably being much the same ingredients and adequate alternative - sometimes exactly the same (under a different pretend name) - and then they cost less (or you get far more and still pay less for them than the main brands):money:.
EDIT: They are called "Goo Heads Creme Eggs" in several places online so, yes, they are just a Hallowe'en-themed version (I doubt a manufacturer would say "just" though:rotfl:). Useful for buying at any time except the run up to Hallowe'en - such as from now onwards when on reduction and be cheaper than Creme Eggs in advance of Easter if you get them to last that time. It makes no difference what the boxes say - I use Hallow'een stuff for Christmas and Easter and Christmas stuff (bought after Christmas) for Easter and next Hallowe'en - the ingredients inside are still the same regardless of what the packs call them. So Kipling's hallowe'en themed cakes are still cakes and still good at a different time. Except that I am now banned from buying any chocolates or sweets at all as, like crisps, they are prohibited items in money-saving terms - unless there is an offer for refund their full cost available.0 -

I ought to say thank you for the tip-off for the 75p Maltesers last night.
So, thank you!:T:T:)
I didn't forget (honest:rotfl:):). No, I didn't forget - I was there at the back of my mind I think but the intention I had, of thanking whoever brought it over to this thread, is realised now.
Anyway - if we all thanked in a separate new post everytime someone posted something, we'd just have post after posts of thank yous:rotfl:! It's always there therefore, even if I don't expressly say it.0 -

Thank you to the Elite lovelies, my crisp coupons finay arrived at 3pm so we have been doing a raid or two on the nearest Extras. First shop was scan as you shop but got a bit trouted so I pulled rank and told her that all flavours scanned as my friend in security told me so ....she quietly put them through but I didn't want to go back so went to a manned till with crisps only and said to the sa "isn't it always the way, just did my shop and forgot to use my vouchers. Bingo, she put them through with no trouble and a lovely smile
By rights there should be absolutely no Walkers Baked crisps available anywhere in any Metros, Extras, superstores, wherever it was valid, at 23.59 tonight. Otherwise, those are packs that have been lost to us the public, assuming T printed as many coupons as they have stock of these crisps.
I saw some in Sains. marked at £1.60 today. Wondered if any customers had been buying any there at all:rotfl:.0 -
