We've always had staff whose approach to us is totally different. One of them I found seemed quite satisfied when they told me: "You won't be able to do this again." Maybe I had misunderstood - perhaps they were just informing me I couldn't enter the receipt I was now getting (even though I wasn't buying what would have been enough items).
Another told me that my shops are getting smaller nowadays:rotfl::rotfl:. They are correct - I certainly won't be buying eight items (and spending money on more items than necessary therefore) if I don't have to and I am just running it down if I can actually find anything that is good value from them.0 -
Stafford is my stamping ground - excellent if you like history but they have ruined the town centre, I do a very complicated walk through town now to avoid the ugly bits.
Its about 3 hours in the car from Lancs to S-U_A- are you wanting to break the journey up or extend it to include somewhere interesting en route?
Are you thinking of doing an Alton Towers day in the middle. I can think of a couple of places to stay that would take you just off the M6 and then you could go to Alton Towers on the day and then back on the M6
Or how about Birmingham Botancial gardens and then Bournville - 2 places quite close together so plenty to fill an entire day and there must be a Premier Inn close by
Having said that I would not recommend the M6 on a Friday anywhere south of Ikea.Hello. Lurker here!
We have a Trentham annual pass and love it. The boat and train still run (but only Thurs - Sun in the winter). We stroll down to the far end of the lake for a cuppa at the little cafe there.
You can use clubcard vouchers to pay for entrance.0 -
Tegg's Nose Country Park - that's Macclesfield isn't it? But is there anything more than any other country park that may be near you, particularly if you are finding somewhere to stay and then going out to there? (In other words is it worth it, rather than just doing something as a day trip nearby and spending half the day there and then going back without needing to pay for a room for the night?) There's also Trentabank Reservoir near there (I had thought it was Ladybower but got my bearings mixed up) but not sure what would be going on around now and Macclesfield Forest (how does that look in autumn?) - may be good if you are going tomorrow but after that it may be pretty chilly and wet and cold. Is anywhere in Buxton a base to come from? One of the most dangerous roads in the country apparently - Buxton-Macclesfield.0

Thank you.
Chester is a nice place. I had thought that was too near to Lancashire though. Just avoid the urban roads on busy Saturdays or rush hours:rotfl:. And you don't want to be going anywhere to visit a supermarket as then it's not a nice place at all. There's definitely pubs in Chester where you can have a meal out. There's also country pubs towards, and in, South Cheshire if you don't mind a journey out and then back. Alternatively North East Wales anyone? (Maybe that's going out of the way on the way to Stratford.)0 -
What about Telford? Or Ironbridge? (Is the bridge itself actually shut down for repairs this year:think:?)
EDIT: I have now thought Newport (Shropshire) but not sure what's there and Bridgnorth (but Bridgnorth may be dear but maybe not off-season and probably too close to Stratford - still a bit away but you may not wanting to be going more than half the way there if breaking your journey or travelling a little out of the way and back on yourself). I thought Shugborough (near Stafford) but again probably quite expensive/not sure what's there in the way of hotels etc. Not sure that you'd be wanting Cannock Chase and Cannock itself seems to be a little too urban to me (getting near Birmingham).
Probably too much information now - so many different places and you now can't decide which:rotfl:.0 -

Thanks savvy, I thought of ironbridge today.
Yes Chester isn't far from here but we love it there.0 -
Good evening Elite.
It's been a lovely autumnal day here today. Hope you're enjoying your birthday Mrs lds.“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.” ~ Ferris Bueller0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: we're going to visit friends near Bubbs but I've booked a night in Stratford upon avon and then a night in Oxford so it was somewhere to spend the first night, whenever we do that journey I always say what a funny name shugborough is. I think we may just stop off there on the way.
Not too much info at all, I love a lot of detailthank you.

Or maybe you could go to Salisbury - to see the 123m cathedral spire:rotfl::rotfl:.
(It's got a 123m spire you know:doh:...!)0
