    Oh..i missed that post :(
  • We last had our windows done about 15 years ago.

We had a couple of bigger companies to quote and a couple of local ones.

With the bigger ones, one of them took 4 hours of our time, started off with a massive quote which was promptly cut in half if we would sign there and then, was very unwilling to leave without a contract until we threatened to call the police. Can't remember who it was, think I have blocked it out, The other big one was Brackenwood, this annoyed me more. I made the appointment, explained that my husband would not be available and was told that would be fine. Come the appointed time the rep arrives and absolutely refuses to do anything without my husband. Told him that was how it had been arranged but still would do nothing. Threw him out and refused to make a further appointment as they requested. They will NEVER get any business from us.

The local ones were great, they came at the appointed time, measured up, showed us the options, drank tea, left us the quotes that were far less than the big companies, we went with the one that had the shorter timescale,

I think if we are still here when they need replacing again, we will be going nowhere near the big nationals.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Needles to say our store had none, not a single clip or hair accessory :(

These would have been perfect in the Christmas shoe boxes and the brown hair elastic thingies that were in another pic would have been useful - no idea what happens to mine.
I had a hair cut last March which was a lot more drastic then I originally intended and my hair has not grown since
Its just about long enough to put into a scrappy pony tail now - all through that long hot summer, now a distant memory, it was sticking to the back of my neck, too short to tie up.

On the plus side though I did get one item, a dry shampoo brush for even distribution of dry shampoo for 60p :T
    barcode 06747008

I handed over my NUS card but nothing additional came off - is there a minimal spend?
I got 12p off a 90p purchase the other day.

Only one left otherwise I would have got extra for eldest child and also a good size brush for Christmas shoe boxes.

Tomorrow though I have to go and pick up the Quidco orders from Wilko (yes already, only did them yesterday)- more cat food.
There is a bigger Superdrug next door so I will go and have another look.

And a search for a possible mythical Holland & Barret

Yes it's supposed to be £1 or over.

I've given up goingto places for cheap things folk have said online as there is never any there when I go :(

No stock left in my H&B this afternoon  - google maps seems to think there is one in the next town ...

I managed one but she had to root in a box for it and didn't look like there were many in there.

Whilst holding/massaging Harriet's front paw as she was sleeping this afternoon, I noticed one of her paw pads was like a flap. I rushed her to the vet thinking she may need stitches :(

Upon examining her, the Vet said it was nothing to worry about, it was a piece of sticky poop she had stepped on. Embarrassing or what? :o

I got some makeup bags in superdrug today, a couple of different types with writing on, hadn't realised how cheap they were (don't do makeup) but they were £1 each, I bought 4 (presents for kids of a friend) and got 40p multibuy discount, no idea what that was about lol.

No SD near me but makeup bags are also excellent for holding chargers and cables etc when you are travelling.

    At last 50p :j

I'm really enjoying froctober so far. Just to give an example to those who were asking how it works, this is the effect it has on me. On Wednesday we were having steak and chips for tea so I thought I would buy a bag of salad to go with it, I went into Iceland picked up a bag for £1 but the draw of having a nsd made me remember we had mushrooms in the fridge which made me put the salad back :D
I had my haircut this week and paid £15 out of my purse which was upsetting me as it was a big chunk out of my cash for the month. Yesterday i worked an extra hour to cover someone else and my boss said just put your normal hours down for today and that's for the extra and put £15 on my desk I was :j:j:j:j:j because it put my total back to where it should be. Little did he know how happy that made me, they don't understand my shopping ways and think I'm nuts. I don't understand their shopping ways and think they're nuts when they go in mns spend £35 just about get enough food for two meals and are pleased cos they used a £5 off voucher, each to their own.

TS so glad you enjoyed Dd tough mudder they did great.

    Thanks for the inspiration Di,

I'm really proud of myself as I haven't spent anything this month (OK only the 5th!). £1 has gone from my purse, but that was into my volunteer group Christmas meal savings, so not really spent.

I am just counting grocery type shopping, but I stopped myself from buying anything from Quiddy just to use the £2.50 off - I don't need anything.

    Good morning shipmates

Hope all landlubbers and sea dogs alike are bushy tailed :)

Got my Pork rillettes in the fridge, ready for Sunday evening!

Then the cream on top :)
You must share your recipe JTS, as that is one of my must haves when we go to France
