but its probably more on paper than it actually is¬!!:)

Years ago when the children were small but school age I

use to work 5.30-10.30pm only 3 evenings a week but the 10.30 finish was usually midnight as an aux in community nursing
our area was one of a few involved in a pilot twilight scheme ---and we had a good service,
I also done 2 night covers from 10pm til 6 am in patients own homes for marie curie
I use to have a Monday off from twilight and helped a friend (admittedly only for 6months) set up a now very popular coffee shop in the village, I was there making cakes, pastries and scones. I worked 8-5, cycled home often taking unsaleable things home for tea, Dh then use to go out at 6pm as he was chairman of the local bridge club (cards) he was home by 10, then off id go to a patient staying til 6,30 am
Home by 7, kids up breakfast and off to school by 8.30 me then bed:)
oh yes forgot to mention we also done B+B for over 20years...we only have a small cottage (our home) but could accommodate 6 people for insurance purposes;)
we done all the work ourselves cleaning, cooking ironing and bl..dy tax returns.
all the different roles worked together well and complimented each other, the children met a variety of people from different nationalities, learnt the proper way to have table manners(not like many kids today with videos in front of them as they eat, my gs included:mad::mad::)and had many happy times playing with guests children.
they learnt the value of money, sharing, communications skills and manners.
we were lucky being able to generate an income and also be with our children, I never left them with babysitters(too busy to go out:rotfl:) when we did go out I was in a circle with other mums and we paid each other by tiddlywinks counters, if you wanted to go out and couldn't pay you had to go and babysit for another mum to earn the counters

The above is when I think I was busy and it was hard very hard, but so many funny stories from the b+b made it worthwhile.
looking back I don't think id change it,
ill have to remember and tell you some of the b+b stories;)

so my life at the moment in comparison seems a like a walk in the park:)

next year I am 60 so perhaps I will by then literally be taking a walk in the park with the GS:):)

Yes but you aren t as young now as you were like me. I'm 62 and I can't do as much as I used to . I get more tired and my balance isn't as good as it used to be. Therefore no more felting sheds or climbing loft ladders etc. It's too late if anything happens isn't it .

    Afternoon all
Have not been on since Thursday night as had a very busy weekend with lots of things to do, so apologies if I missed anything.

Fuzzy, if you need talking through how to check your oil, and what to do after that, just shout. It could possibly be a brake, but that said, the noise could be many things without hearing it. Is it 'gravely' even when you are not moving (if so, that brings it back to the engine).
I may as well try my most expensive cheddar tonight. I made it last March and it has been maturing nicely in my "cave" ;) Taking into consideration the cost of the kit ( I haven't made any more since :o ) it works out over £100 per kilo
Need a full report on this please

Waverley to Haymarket sounds good. I'm going with that one as it always works for me :)

Thanks Dave. I checked it again and definitely does look like nothing on the dipstick. I was unsure how much to buy so just went for the 1L from B&M. Put it in, but still looks like nothing in lol. Assume I need a lot more so will buy a larger bottle tomorrow.
Was talking to a neighbour, she said she used to have a car that guzzled oil - maybe I do too I dunno.
The brakes are a bit noisy and have been since the front pads were replaced, im not sure if the gravelly noise is there when not moving, will have to take note tomorrow.

There is usually about half/3 quarters of a litre between the top and bottom of the dipstick so dont go adding more than half a litre at a time until you can see it. I really would not be driving it if it is that low. Are you sure there is none on the dipstick, as if the oil is really clean, it can sometimes be hard to see. And is your car parked on the flat and not been started for at least 10 mins before you are checking it?

Once you have got it to level, I would suggest checking it VERY frequently so that you can get a guage of how often it needs to be topped up. It does seem strange that it has used that much if you dont have a leak. Problem with modern cars is they have a plastic undertray, good for some things, but bad for spotting oil leaks.
