Anyway we have had a bit of a weird weekend

Saturday morning OH had a lie in - poor love first week back at work after the holidays knackered him out so he didn't get up until about 10 which is very unusual for him.

Anyway that gave me the chance to straighten up, which was fortunate that I did. Then we toddled off to Waitrose, bit of shopping, then to Mr T and finishing with Little Moreton hall where we had a snack and a bit of a walk around before finally wandering back home.

Got home about 2 o'clock and there was Errant son and his van - he has only been in Swindon doing phase 2 for a couple of weeks. They decided that morning to head north - one mate he dropped off in Wolverhampton, totally unannounced and no texts or messages to say they were setting off ...

But it was very nice to see him. He was collecting various bits he had not taken down the other weekend - gas bottle, big box of maps, other odds and sods.
Also an ice pick and a hot water bottle :rotfl:
He has worked out he is now living only about an hour from the Brecon Beacons so he will be walking and climbing around there through the winter weekends.

So we had a nice relaxed weekend, OH checked the van for him and sorted out his IT issues and he worked on his assignment for Monday and we had a go at the maths (going through GCSE level maths for zillionth time ...)

And then fully restocked he has set off again for Swindon this afternoon via Wolverhampton.

But I've realised I was getting more and more anxious as the weekend has gone one and thinking about it I realised why.
August 2016 was the summer he came back from HK and he got a job in Kent. He took a car load down in August and then the next weekend in September he was back - 5 hour drive to collect another car load of his belongings.
What we didn't realise was he was making the second trip so soon because he had already sold the Volvo estate he was driving - and not bothered to tell us.
We had been looking after the Volvo for about a year since he went to HK, it was driven occasionally and it was checked over before he came back. We had taxed, insured and MOTd it, changed the tyres and got it looked over by the garage to make sure it was fully road worthy.
Despite this he had just sold it without even bothering to tell us.
He also bought a van which was in such poor condition it didn't even last until Christmas.
We didn't know about either until weeks later.
We had a huge disagreement - not only about the Volvo and the van but other stuff was going on as well.
Then he was out of touch with us, apart from showing up for a night between Christmas and New Year - out of contact until spring 2017 when he was again out in HK and broke.
He came back and moved back in with us in April 2017 - jobless and homeless and with no money.

So this bouncing back & to again at the exact same time of the year has made me anxious - not that I think he again selling his current van or intent on cutting us off again or that he has lost jobs or anything that drastic

But your head gets this d!jà v!cu feeling - that its groundhog day and you have been through this all before ...

(And yes he is still named Errant son as we are still sorting out his problems, still completely !!!!less with his finances and no I am not bailing him out this time ...)

    When’s the official SMETS2 rollout?
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) say SMETS2 will be available as part of the mass rollout from 5th October 2018.
  • Evening all! It's been raining here all day today. We went out mountain biking this morning and rode about 20 miles. They have several mountain bike parks here in the forests with way marked trails. One of the ones we did today had loads of single track and was very rocky so I wussed out and walked some of the rocky bits. I felt like a wuss as it was only the 'red' trail, black must have been terrifying! After a change of clothes we headed back out into the rain for a walk :-). There is a local Co-op and we arrived at the perfect whoopsie time, we found loads of things for 10-20p including fresh soups, custard, loaves of bread, vegetables etc. Luckily this campsite has a fridge we can use! The forecast is for sun tomorrow so we're planning on climbing the Merrick which is the highest mountain in southern Scotland.

I thought they might just have a generic code but they are all different.

Unfortunately they will have to go in the recycling bin:o
